The Painter of the Wind (DVD) (End) (English Subtitled) (SBS TV Drama) (Limited Edition) (Korea Version)

YesAsia Editorial Description

Korea's sweetheart Moon Geun Young (My Little Bride, Tale of Autumn) returns to the small screen for the highly anticipated 2008 SBS period drama The Painter of the Wind. The series attracted a lot of attention since conception for being Moon's first TV drama in five years, and for featuring a gender-bending heroine like the wildly popular 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. Based on Lee Jung Myung's best-selling novel which also inspired the film Portrait of a Beauty in 2008, The Painter of the Wind reimagines the life of renowned Joseon-era painter Shin Yoon Bok, interestingly portraying the artist as a woman disguised as a man.

On the big screen, Shin Yoon Bok is played by Kim Min Sun; on the small screen, she is charmingly embodied by Moon Geun Young. After meeting family tragedy in her youth, Shin chooses to live disguised as a male and sets out to find the truth behind her father's mysterious death. Acclaimed actor Park Shin Yang (Lovers in Paris, Money's Warfare) plays master painter Kim Hong Do, who becomes Shin's mentor in both art and life. Underlined by beautiful cinematography, a majestic score, keen attention to historical details, and a supporting cast that includes Bae Soo Bin (Jumong), Lim Ji Eun (Rude Women), Park Jin Woo (Unstoppable Marriage), and Moon Chae Won (Our School E.T), The Painter of the Wind has emerged as one of the best Korean dramas of 2008.

Excellent Drama Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Excellent cast, story execution, music and I find myself fascinated by the art of the Choson period besides the culture. It is certainly a diamond in my small Korean drama collection. I do not like the conclusion though, it felt unfinished and dissatisfying. Though I must say this drama has certainly imprinted its version of Shin Yun-bok and Kim Hong-do deeply in my mind. I'm not sure I'll ever like any other. :D

Nice drama Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I have seen this drama and i actually enjoyed it. Those of you who are artistic and loves to paint will truly loved this love story. I just do not want the ending. I have expected that the ending would really being them together even though Park Shin Young is the friend of her father and the age difference is huge.

But at the end of the day, you will truly like the twist of the series. Get your copy.

A Piece of Fine Art Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Painter of the Wind is the first Korean Historical Drama which I watched. I was drawn to it because of a fine actor Mr. Park Shin Yang. Through Painter of the Wind, he has introduced to non-Koreans like me the ancient fine arts of Korea. The drama is beautifully filmed with introduction to art interpretation, a rare gem in recent Korean dramas. I would certainly treasure it as my collection of Park Shin Yang's work.
