전운이 감돌던 1939년 폴란드의 바르샤바. 유명한 천재 피아니스트 블라디슬라프 스필만은 대중들의 인기를 한 몸에 받는, 폴란드의 국보급 천재 음악가다. 스필만은 여느 때와 같이 한 인기 라디오 프로그램에서 쇼팽의 야상곡을 연주하는데, 바로 그 순간 방송국이 폭격을 당하고 스필만은 자신의 연주를 완전히 끝내지 못한 채 피난길에 오르게 된다. 나치는 폴란드 안에서 세력을 확장하고, 유대계인 스필만의 가족들은 모두 죽음으로 가는 기차에 강제로 실린다. 피아니스트인 자신을 알아 보는 몇몇 사람들의 도움으로, 스필만은 극적으로 목숨을 건지고, 나치의 눈을 피해 숨어 다니며 폭격으로 폐허가 된 어느 건물에 자신의 은신처를 만들게 된다.
마지막 생존을 건 최후의 연주, 마침내 인류를 구원할 위대한 선율이 울려 퍼지다! 아무도 없는 폐건물 속에서 스필만에게 남겨진 건 허기와 추위, 그리고 고독과 공포. 먹을 것은커녕 마실 것 조차 없는 절대 절명의 상황에서, 스필만은 오직 생존의 일념으로 힘겹게 하루하루를 버텨 나간다. 온전히 혼자 남겨진 스필만은 어둡고 눅눅한 폐허 안에서 자신이 연주하던 곡들을 상상으로 연주하며 몸부림친다.오래된 통조림 한 개로 간신히 목숨을 지탱하던 스필만은 어느날 그 주변을 돌던 독일 장교에게 발각되고 만다. 한눈에 그가 유대인 도망자임을 눈치챈 독일 장교. 그가 스필만에게 신분을 대라고 요구하자 스필만은 자신이 피아니스트였다고 말한다. 한동안의 침묵끝에 스필만에게 연주를 명령하는 독일 장교, 그리고 그 말에 추위와 허기로 굽은 자신의 손가락만 내려다보는 피아니스트 스필만. 이윽고 스필만은 어쩌면 지상에서의 마지막 연주가 될 지도 모를 그 순간, 온 영혼을 손끝에 실어 연주를 시작하는데...

In my opinoin ,THE PIANIST is the best film .I had see many films ,but none of them are better than it . And Adrien Brody is the best ator for THE PIANIST ,none can instead of. |

This is one of the best movies of the year. No wonder it has won 3 Academmy Awards! The movie is based on true events, the acting, the cinematography and of course the music of Chopin are absolutely gorgous. Highly recommended! |
