The Princess's Messenger (Hong Kong Version) Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I have the VCD version so it is not as clear as DVD but still considered it one of my favorite movie style Cantonese opera. I remembered this movie because here all the acting, script and cinematography combined together nicely to make it memorable. Both male and female leads and supporting actors were excellent choices and make the ordinary songs come alive. The underwater scenes and sceneries were particularly interesting, thoughtful and fanciful. Memory Hill, place of departure,fish people, mermaids, they are all portrayed in details. In other famous versions by other opera companies, underworld scenes were not the main focus and that is a pity. Take a look the maiden inside the large seashell as our hero first went into the water world !
