The Selection of Cheer Chen is the first compilation released by Taiwan's gifted singer/song-writer Cheer Chen Chi Cheng. She has amazingly moved such a huge audience in Taiwan, in fact in all Chinese-speaking communities, by releasing just 3 albums since her debut in 1998. All three albums made good sales despite minimal promotional campaigns. Her quality music is what attracts people, even suffices to turn some first-time listener to become her loyal fans.

The Selection of Cheer Chen includes Cheer's 15 essential tones in her uniquely simple and refreshing style. "Cafe in Jiufen," a song she wrote at the age of nineteen, is often used by Cheer to remind herself of keeping the music passion she had when first stepping into the music scene. "Lonely without You," one of her most popular songs, cannot be missed out in this collection. The MVs of "Lonely without You" and two other enchanting songs come in a VCD bundled with the music CD. The VCD also features footages from her live concert in 2002.

"I treasure and pay attention to all my pieces," Cheer says on the eve of the compilation's release. The Selection of Cheer Chen, the fullest collection of Cheer Chen so far, is indeed a musical gem for all to treasure.

 lovely music...lousy packaging: Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I bought the first edition of "The Selection of Cheer Chen" and was VERY upset at the packaging. Later, I saw the second edition came in more standard packaging (a jewel case) and I was even more upset. Now, I see after ordering the pre-order version of "A Fabulous Adventure", it is the SAME packaging. What is going on? These packages are awful. They are books bound loosely together with brads to hold them. The CD itself is in a flimsy little paper cover inside the "book". Why not make all editions bound the same...or at least in jewel cases. I have no way to store these books and I hate the packaging. The music is nice...a wonderful collection of some of Cheer's best works as well as some new songs. I adore her melodic and hyponotizing vocals with simple instrumentalization. She has great expression and range. Her CDs are passionate, yet calming. I look foward to her new release, but wish I had waited to order BOTH in traditional packaging. The book format is lousy and impractical. Note to CHEER: keep the gorgeous music, lose the horrible packaging. But, I recommend others to buy this because THIS edition is in a standard format. You won't end up with the awful version I got by ordering early. Who says impatience pays off? YUK. I wish I'd waited: on both releases. But for Cheer...who wants to wait?

i felt comfortable and relax whenever i listen to her music.
i really like her style of music and i really recommend this cd as i really enjoy listening to it!

Breath-Taking... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I'd been wanting to try a CD by this singer since reading all the great reviews of her 2002 release "Groupies". But, I wanted something newer, you know? However, when I saw this compilation, I couldn't resist. I thought it would be a great way to be introduced to her as an artist. And WOW. This girl is fabulous. Her voice and music is just my style. I couldn't have picked a more perfect singer for my taste. Now, if she'd release a new CD of brand-new songs I'd be in heaven. Meanwhile, this CD remains on constant play. BUY THIS. It's a masterpiece and the singer deserves FAR more recognition that what I've seen her receiving. She's perfection. Even the way this CD is packaged is inventive. It's so nice from a standard jewel case and is classy...just like her! Very, very great. I am in love with this purchase and plan to buy her next CD the moment I can.

This CD Rocks!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I never really knew who Cheer Chen was until one day a friend of mine sent me a mp3 song of hers through MSN. I fell in love with that song not because it is super unique or so on...but just...it clicked inside..of me..and I just knew I found the singer who suits me well. Cheer's songs are soft, mellow and extremely well rythmed. You'll love the musical composition along with her innocent, soft yet mature voice. Cheer isn't that bad looking either ^.^. Anyways, over here we have one of those singers who don't follow commercialized, mass produced, main stream pop hell like we all see today. Here we have talent, we have originality and most important we have found someone who sings from the heart. Highly Recommended :) (My friend bought me this CD and sent it to me right after I told her i'm in love with Cheer)
