Spectacular

It's unfortunate that the product info in this catalogue consists of only 4 sentences. Basically, orphaned boy (his father was from the Royal Court, wrongly accused and beheaded) rescued by loyal servant to seek a recluse Master to foster=care and teach the boy martial arts. Revenge was not really on the menu but things progressed very quickly when Guo (the grown up orphan turned hero) discovered a skeleton in a cave. This led to a sword shaped like a snake, kungfu manuals, a treasure map and a mission to locate a certain lady. Along the way he befriended a girl (under disguise as a young man) and later learnt that her mother was the lady he was searching for. The plot unfold as the mother (Ching Li) revealed that the dead man was her husband and how she has waited 18 years for him to come rescue her from her family. Then on, plenty of duels, fight scenes and the acrobatic displays were stunning. I haven't watched the 5 venoms and so am not familiar with this bunch of actors. However, their fighting skills are top class (does anyone know if they're really martial arts practitioners?). Only flaw is the misleading movie title but apart from that , this is indeed one of Chang Cheh's greater works. Don't miss it ! |

Beautiful Swordplay
| I had the movie for several months & viewed a couple weeks ago; I don't know why I waited so long. The classic is beautifully re-mastered, with adequate subtitles and there is some impressive swordplay that only the gang can deliver. The flashbacks are a touch numbing but it moves along well and keeps the story tidy and understandable. Definately worth in DVD format. |

This is martial arts heaven!

"Sword Stained With Royal Blood" has some of the most stupendous martial arts fight scenes you will ever see. Heck, even when you just see Guo Zhui practicing, it is worth the price of the movie. I have downgraded the movie a bit because much of the story's exposition occurs in a series of narrated flashbacks, thus robbing the movie of any real suspense. But don't be discouraged. Once the protagonists square off for yet another fight scene, the movie becomes absolutely electric. What is most amazing is how long many of the shots go on. There are some fight sequences in which the fighters make more than a dozen different moves before the camera cuts to a different angle. These were phenomenal acrobats and martial artists! Guo Zhui rules and this movie is highly recommended. |

A COMPLETE MASTERPIECE
| I have waited so long for this movie to be available.Everything that Celestial has done to make this picture look as good as it once did is such justice to an incredible display of "venom" talent.The entire movie really moves well,but the infamous "Bagua Array" and what this tight choreography entails is mindblowing.Ching Sheng is in top notch form against Kuo Choi.Their fighting in the film is limited,but to me the best of the film. |

WHY THIS GREAT MOVIE DIDN'T GET A 10!

THIS IS A FAST PACED MOVIE THAT I LOVED, BUT STILL HAD PROBLEMS WITH SCRIPT-WISE, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE NAME OF THE MOVIE"THE SWORD STAINED WITH ROYAL BLOOD," FIRST THERE WASN'T ANYONE IN THE MOVIE WITH "ROYAL BLOOD," INCLUDING THE HERO KUO, WHOSE MARTIAL SKILLS AND ACROBATICS WHERE GREAT. COULDN'T THEY HAVE NAME THIS MOVIE "GOLDEN SNAKES REVENGE." ALL IN ALL, THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE TO SEE AND KEEP FOR YOUR "VENOMS" COLLECTION. YOU EVEN GET TO SEE "ALL AROUND GOOD GUY" CHENG SHANG PLAY A CONVINCING BAD GUY FOR A CHANGE! BUY THIS MOVIE FOR THE ACTION, IT IS REALLY A VERY, VERY GOOD MOVIE IF YOU CAN BRING YOURSELF TO OVERLOOK THE NAME OF THE MOVIE! YOUR FRIEND DARBY! |
