Great job, Athena!

In "Time 4 Hope", Nick Cheung plays an award-winning screenwriter who is living life in the fast lane of the Hong Kong movie industry. He cranks out scripts at breakneck speed and parties with industry bigshots (and with women other than his girlfriend). Eventually his wild life catches up with him and he ends up in a terrible car wreck. After the wreck, he lies comatose in a hospital for weeks, then is transferred to a rehab ward, in which Athena Chu works as a nurse. As Nick struggles to recover from his injuries, he and Athena strike up a special friendship. After he leaves the hospital, when he needed help, he called Athena and she came to his aid. Soon they fall in love and get married. Embittered by his partial paralysis and the horrible limp with which he now walks, Nick fails as a screenwriter and ends up working as a writer at a gossip magazine, which he considers a humiliating fall from grace. His ongoing woes lead him to behave cruelly toward Athena and their marriage is jeopardized. Can Athena and Nick save their marriage? Can Nick come to terms with his paralysis? It is well worth watching "Time 4 Hope" to learn the answers to these questions. This film clearly was shot on a shoestring budget and the script (about a scriptwriter) contains some jarring transitions, but ultimately it is the performances that raise this movie above the average. Nick Cheung gives an honest performance as someone who formerly was a high-flyer, but now has been brought low by severe disabilities. And Athena Chu is an eye-opening revelation as the woman who endures torment to love him. I can't say enough good things about Athena's performance; she is marvelously expressive without resorting to histrionics; she is superb! "Time 4 Hope" is recommended highly for a general audience. By the way, the beautiful quotations about love that are interspersed within the film are from chapter 13 of the apostle Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians. Check it out! |

Alright
| This movie isn't as good as I thought it would be, because it's more boring than interesting. Don't really know what it's trying to get across after watching the film. Overall it's acceptable, but not really worth it. |

| At first I thought it's a comedy. But it turns out even better than that. Athena and Nick's performance are both excellent!! |

Good Movie
| The movie does lag a bit at the beginning but we are treated to a really sweet love story. The acting is top rate, Athena does a good job connecting to the audience so that we can actually feel some of the strife and warmth between the couple. I put this dvd in my player and watched a few scenes with a friend who would never had played it and she was hooked. If you're in the mood for a Meg Ryan type pic, try this one, you may like it better. |
