Winner of the Feature Film Grand Prize at the 12th Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival, the 2007 two-episode OVA
Tokyo Marble Chocolate is a collaborative effort from animation studio Production I.G and record label BMG Japan to commemorate the two companies' 20th anniversaries. Directed by Shiotani Naoyoshi and featuring character design by manga artist Tanikawa Fumiko, this charmer revolves around the budding romance of two young people who are unlucky in love, shy guy Yudai and clumsy but cute Chizuru. Their hesitant relationship takes a big step forward on Christmas Day thanks to the antics of a Mini Donkey that Yudai attempts to give Chizuru as a present. The OVA's two episodes present the same story from different perspectives, with
Zenryoku Shonen telling Yudai's side and
Mata Aimasho telling Chizuru's side. Tokyo Tower, a glittering cityscape, and music from hip-hop artist SEAMO and jazz pop duo Sukima Switch provide beautiful backdrop for this fanciful animated urban love story.
Comes with the Cinema Edit Version of Tokyo Marble Chocolate shown at the Tokyo Film Festival Festival, plus other special features.
