民國初年，名存實亡的末代皇帝溥儀在遺老們的操縱下，迎娶了婉容為「皇后」、文�妞陛u皇妃」。文�孚贗X老實，婉容卻生性愛玩，還有不少的大小姐脾氣。與此同時，直奉戰事爆發，馮玉祥的部下將溥儀逐出紫禁城，溥儀帶著兩個輾轉到了天津。
在天津，婉容借故指責文�均A氣走文�均C”九一八事變”爆發後，日本人將溥儀帶往滿州建立滿州國。溥儀與婉容之間的隔閡越來越深，婉容在最寂寞無助的時候，委身於侍衛並懷孕﹐溥儀氣極敗壞，使出各種手段虐待婉容至瘋。
後溥儀又迎娶了文靜乖巧的旗人譚玉玲，兩個過了一段感情融洽的生活。但譚玉玲不久就去世。日本人很快找了一個本地女子李玉琴來填補空缺，李玉琴與宮裡生活格格不入，溥儀也只視她為擺設。
日本兵敗投降，溥儀後來得以共產黨的特赦回北京，組織上為他介紹了一個離異多年的護士李淑賢，已成為普通人的溥儀得了絕症，在最後的日子裡，李淑賢伴他走過一段作為一個普通公民的日子。

A sincere production
|
Although the drama was focusing on the love relationship on the last emperor of China, but it was still truth to history. The best part of this drama, is that it was presented in a very sincere way. The great screenplay, casting, art direction, music, cinematography etc... make the drama so watchable. It has been a long time I have seen such a sincere full-length drama production. |
