September 16, 2009 Good single from JaeChunWhen I first heard Melody and Harmony from Tokyo Dome fancam, I wasn't too impressed, but as time went by, song grew on me. Sometimes, Jaejoong's voice sounds too nasally in M&H, and the melody ain't all that impressive to be honest, but it's a good single.
Shelter was written and composed by Junsu & Jaejoong, so even though I haven't heard the song yet, I'm expecting lot from it.
I ordered CD only version cause the pv of M&H was sort of lame to me. Yes, Jae and Chun are hot, but just them walking through some ghost town and singing isn't really my idea of what a good mv should look like. Plus, I like cd cover better. ^^
Overall, I recommend this single to TVXQ fans while waiting for the guys to get back together as 5.

August 17, 2009 Surprisingly goodGee may be a better single than Genie, but the overall quality of other songs on Genie beats Gee.
On their 1st mini album, I only really liked two songs - Gee and Way to go. Dear mom was okay, but not that great and Destiny and Let's talk about love were plain sucky.
Their 2nd mini album brings an improvement on that field. Out of 6 songs, I liked 5.
My favorite song's got to be My child. It's got such a wonderful harmonization and it really brings back fond memories from before Gee craze, when girls were still performing songs like Kissing you and Baby baby.
Etude is also a darling song, similar in theme to My child. Cute, but not overly so.
Boyfriend has got to be the worst song I've ever heard from SNSD. English lyrics are suggestive and downright degrading ("So many boys wanna give it to me, but I want you, boy give it to me" - hmm, I wonder what they're singing about?).
Girlfriend is a very nice song, totally different from their usual style. It sounds very jpop-ish, like opening song to some anime (Sailor Moon! ^o^).
One year later is a surprisingly lovely ballad sung by Jessica (or Jassica, seeing as they misspelled her name on the album cover, lol) and Shinee's Lee Jinki. I'm not very fond of Jessica's childish voice but she sounded real good in this song.
Genie - nice lead single. Love the choreography, though mv is a bit too much for me. >.<

August 12, 2009 Not 'that' goodHonestly, I'm a bit disappointed. Reading the reviews before ordering the book I was really excited, but once I actually received the book and started reading it, it felt like a cold shower.
The book is not 'bad', but honestly, it's not as good as everyone make it seem. I think the part of the reason everyone is putting this book on pedestal as "the most amazing book ever!!!" is that Tablo wrote it. Not many celebrities actually write books, so when the brilliant poet Tablo published his short story collection, everyone went mad.
For me, stories are too similar and too fragmented. While this fragmented-ness works great with Epik High's songs, I personally feel books should give us a little bit more.
Take for example "Andante", seemingly everyone's favorite story from the book. I think it's pretty unoriginal (family member suffering from dementia) and badly written. It's like a piece of bored mind. No offense to everyone who really likes this particular story.
BUT - not everything is so bleak. I like three stories. Hate Crime, short and written in the manner of best Epik High's stories, A Glass of Victory - bitterly funny story about winners and losers and Coup de Grace, original and moving story but with an abrupt and weird ending. Those three stories have a very strong message and are deeply moving. Especially Coup de Grace- it leaves you thinking.
So, if you're a fan of Epik High, you're going to buy this no matter what I say.
If you're not a fan of Epik High, I suggest rather buying one of their cd-s (Swan Songs and Remapping the Human Soul are my favorites). And for reading - Haruki Murakami's Elephant Vanishes collection of short stories.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

But these earring are really pretty, just like the picture.
On the side note, they're also super fragile. I broke them on the first day while trying to remove that butterfly holder thingie. >.<

July 12, 2009 LovelyI received these earrings a while ago but I forgot to review.
They are really shiny and eye catching but not tacky. If you like to be in a center of attention - these are your earrings. I got a bunch of compliments for them.
They're not too small either.
The only problem is that when I received them, they were slightly bent.
I can't really blame yesasia cause they wrapped it up nicely. I guess they're just too delicate. But with a little trouble, I managed to fix them so it's no biggie.

July 9, 2009 Hot debut albumI'm a huge SNSD/SM Town shipper. But I think I might postpone ordering Genie in favor of ladies from 2ne1. Park Bom's soulful voice brings a new r'n'b vibe to the korean scene and CL's charisma maches that of unrivaled Hyori.
I listened all the songs from the album on internet and my iTunes 5 stars would be: Fire, I don't care, Pretty Boy, Lollipop and In the Club. Other 3 songs are so-so. I guess I just didn't give them time to grow on me.

I haven't paid Moon Hee Jun much attention since I only got into kpop 5 years after H.O.T. disbanded, but after accidentally hearing his song Toy, I feel I have much of catching up to do.
So let's start with song Toy - lead single of this mini album.
It is a beautiful rock ballad, quite unlike any kpop song I've ever heard. Sounds a bit like Gackt's ealier works. It has a beautiful piano melody that stays with you even after the song is over.
난 둘이라서... 넌 혼자라서... is a full fledged kpop ballad and it gives away that old kpop school feeling (2002-2003). If you like Winter Sonata's OST, you will definitely like this song.
Why is similar to Toy, but yet, feeling is completely different. Why is edgier, so to say. If Toy reminded me of Gackt, Why reminds me of Dir En Grey.
Overall, I adore this mini album! If I could, I'd rate this cd 20! Every track (including instrumentals) is perfect!

But Romeo is sort of lacking for me.
Their title song 'Juliette' was a huge let down for me. Except of choreography, the song left a bland taste in my mouth.
'Romeo & Juliette' was okay, but except of Minho's rap at the beginning, again it didn't work for me.
Talk to you I forgot immediately after hearing it. It has no beat, no passion.
Actually, the only songs I liked were Please don't go, a wonderful ballad sung by Onew and Jong Hyun, and Senorita - fast and catchy pop/r&b song.

I ordered B version even though I wasn't completely sure what's up with the other disc. So for those who are wondering - 2nd cd is like a party mix, songs blending into each other without the pause in between. Since I never bought guy's T.R.I.C.K. collection, this cd was heaven-sent to me since it features all 5 singles.
I also received sort of a mini poster with lyrics on the back.
As for the Secret Code album - I LOVE it. I prefer it over Mirotic.
Love the jazzy, mature, Mission Impossible-ish feel to it.
The only two tracks that are sort of 'blah' to me are Wasurenaide and Beautiful you.
My favorites are Taxi (beautiful ballad that can compare to Love in the Ice), Force, Kiss the baby sky and Nobody knows. Doushite and Bolero I don't even need to mention - those two are way out of league.

Most of the songs I'd rate with 4 stars, but my 5 stars are: Zion, Begin, Dead End, O and Step by Step.
The only song I don't like is Choosey Lover which was ironically enough, their lead single.
With cd also comes a small photobook with songs' lyrics. There is only one picture per member which is a pity really cause this is one of their best photoshoots.

With the exception of piano, I don't like any of listed above. However, I adore this cd.
It's sad and lovely and heart-wrenching and absolutely gorgeous.
All the songs are very nice, but my definite favorite is Sorry. It literally brought tears to my eyes.
That song alone is worth the cost of cd, and other songs make the offer all the harder to resist.

February 15, 2009 Love itI bought this album somewhere in November and I still can't stop listening to it.
Yeah, it's THAT good.
I know it's quite pricey compared to their korean albums, but if you're new to Big Bang craze, this album is a great beginning.
All of their biggest hits are here - Haru Haru, Heaven, How Gee, Baby bay - and a bunch of new, excellent songs like No.1, So beautiful and Candle.
Everything about this album just makes you wanna get up and dance.
I don't even like hip-hop music and in the beginning, I really disliked Big Bang's 'wannabe gangsta' style, but there's no way you're gonna dislike this album.
My favorite songs are Intro, No.1, Make love (it was actually Tae Yang's solo), Haru Haru, How Gee, Baby baby, Heaven and So Beautiful (I adore that song, especially at around 1.20 min when TOP and Ji Young rap). I pretty much like all the songs, except Everyone. I don't know, I just don't like that one as much.
And the packaging is really cool too! The cd case is super big and really hard - kinda hard to explain, but BUY IT, and you'll see what I mean. You also get a small (but rather thick) photobook with lyrics and member's pictures. The outfits they wear are kind of weird, but they still look good.

All the songs are enjoyable and perfect to get you up when you're feeling down.
The title song Gee has become a huge hit in Korea, and not without a reason. It is really cute with an adorable melody that sticks with you and a simple but awesome dance you'll learn in no time if you try.
Way to go is the extended version of Haptic song. It is probably my favorite song on the album, although it's hard to say because all songs are really nice.
Dear Mom is a nice ballad. Not especially catchy melody, but lovely lyrics.
Destiny is a bit different than the rest of the songs. It has an electro feel to it and I don't really like.
Lastly, there's Let's talk about love. It's similar to Way to go and Girls' Generation. Gives a powerful and happy feeling to the listener.
All in all, if you're a fan of genre, buy the album. You'll like it.

January 10, 2009 Masterpiece, nothing lessEpik High is one few few groups that never disappoints me.
Their previous albums have all been great, but 'Pieces' is way out of league. There isn't a single track on this album I didn't like.
From phenomenal One to Eight by Eight and Breakdown. Every single one of the songs on the album is pure love. I replayed this cd so many times by now it's a wonder I didn't get sick of it by now!
But I still enjoy listening it just as much as I did when I first replayed it.
My favorite songs are Breakdown - amazing, but in my opinion, underrated song with strong feel to it; One - beautiful hip-hop ballad featuring JiSun of Loveholic; 1:13AM (short piece) - not a song, but short Tablo's narration and girls' crying that comes as a prelude to One and Eight by Eight featuring one of the best known and best loved hip hop groups, Dynamic Duo.
If you didn't get this album yet, get it now.

January 4, 2009 The BestI received this dvd just yesterday and even though I still haven't finished watching it whole, I love it.
The stage is simple, the crowd is small, and the boys are mainly serious - but the performance is amazing.
I own their other concert dvd's like T, Five in Black and O, but this one is my favorite.
It has a completely different feel to it. On this dvd, they're not teenage idols - they are singers, artists even.
Sweat and tears, you can feel it here. The camera is fantastic, it captures their soul, emotions, voices, passion...
I'm thrilled with this dvd.
The last song they performed, One, brought tears to my eyes. The audience is singing with them and in the background are playing their old training clips.
Really amazing.

It's a good album and I think even a casual kpop listeners will like it. Those 5 boys have good voices and even more important, good harmonization.
Their songs variate between rock-pop like Existence and Unlock, to cute pop like Stand by me to typical, full fledged boybandish-pop like Namja and Four Chance.

It takes us behind the scenes of various pv's and photo shootings and into dbsk's lives. Guided by dbsk couples (yoosu, yunjaemin, hosu, yoomin), we get to see them perform on a-nation, go on the promotional tour around japan, celebrate yoochun's birthday and goof around.

Island's first album, Cheerful sensibility, was a smash hit and for a reason. They brought something new to the korean scene with their instruments, raspy vocals and heart-breaking ballads. They were not just a pretty boyband, they were musicians.
When their new album Colorful sensibility came out, I didn't even bother to listen to their songs first before buying it, and now I sort of regret it. The title track 사랑후애 is excellent, like a more mature version of Lovesick. But the rest of the songs are just a dull copy of the songs from 1st album. I can't say this album is bad, but it leaves a bitter taste my mouth since I expected so much more.
I wanted them to plunge into the unknown, just like they did with the 1st album, to explore new genres of music. But sadly, they decided to take the easier path following the recipe that proved successful in Cheerful sensibility.
The packaging of the album on the other side is simply amazing. Innovative, quirky and charming, each member has its own colorful envelope with pictures. Since I don't really know much about them except their names , I can't say that the packaging alone is worth the price, but my rating for this album is definitely higher because of it.
So, in conclusion - if you're a fan, get this.

August 24, 2008 BrilliantI received my copy of 'Camping' a week ago and I was thrilled! The photobook is small but there are plenty of pictures and all are gorgeous. With the theme of camping, guys are dressed casually and are photographed doing stuff like fishing (Micky), climbing (Yunho), driving bicycle (Changmin), playing chess (JaeJoong) or playing the guitar (Junsu). They all look relaxed and happy on the pictures.
The DVD is really great to watch too. There are both Stylish and Camping cuts there and small interviews with guys where they are being asked questions such as 'What are the traits of real man?' and such.
I'm really glad I have this. I missed Bonjour Paris but at least I have this. Now I just have to wait for my copy of Stylish to come.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
