May 29, 2008 another great cdfor almost 2 years..kelly finally returns to the music industry
a great album loaded with fresh and different style of music
track 1 - a very upbeat fast song..great intro to the cd..it's very different to other fast songs u hear on the radio/tv...it's has a jazzy feel today..the chorus is very very catchy with the repetition of 'BIG' (hence the title)
track 2 - a mid-tempo hip hop track..her vocals are very very good in here..so soft..so lazy feel..one of the best songs in the cd..memorable melody + chorus..the lyrics is pretty good..how people in society every once in a while wants to be lonely and have their own time
track 3 - i consider this to be a fast song..but it doesn't have a great hip hop or r&b or a hard beat to it..it has a very mysterious..a bit fantasizing feel to it..good vocals as well
track 4 - this is the song that's gonna be used as the theme song for her upcoming LOVE FIGHTERS CONCERT 2008...the intro starts off with heavy drums..along w/a slight girly feeling of xylophones..quite suitable to the song title..but throughout the song..it has a heavy beat..quite upbringing..also a very catchy chorus w/the mix of cantonese + english lyrics (like WE'RE GONNA FIGHT FOR LOVE..I DON'T CARE THOUGH I REALLY CAN'T BEAR)..i can imagine kelly showing off her great dancing skills to this style of music
track 5 - another favourite track..it has a karaoke melody..so suitable for certain audience...her vocals are pretty good as well..it doesn't have that squeaky sound..and good use of 'fake' tones..the MV for the song is very cute..very romantic lyrics..as kelly tries to change his nerdy no-style bf to a very handsome one..while she changes herself to a nerdy no-style girlfriend
track 6 - back to another upbeat song..this has a 80s feel to it..so it brings to another feeling..also another catchy chorus..this is something new kelly hasn't tried before..so i'm glad she's experimenting new things and playing w/her vocals
track 7 - another mid-tempo hip hop song..it has a very good melody w/a good beat..lyrics is very interesting..it's about how a girl tries to be audrey hepburn...but she realizes u don't get acceptance that way unless u find your own definitive style for yourself...and her vocals here are different from her usual songs..cause it's from another composer..so it's a good improvement
track 8 - remake of natasha bedingfield's unwritten..so needless to say it has a good melody..i'm not too fond of other singers using re-makes..cause the re-makes are usually not as great as the original..so i didn't find this song as outstanding as her original ones in the cd
track 9 - another remake of a japanese singer..however..i find this song better than track 8 cause her vocals are better..and it's a very relaxing happy feeling song
track 10 - another slow song..used for maxim's mooncake commerical..so it has a family, reminiscence feel to it..it also has meaningful lyrics
track 11 - theme song used for AN EMPRESS AND THE WARRIOR movies..the duet b/w leon and kelly blends very well together..it has a very catchy chorus..that gets people to remember quickly..also the music arrangements suits well for the movie (an ancient romantic feeling..but w/a slight mix of warrior/battle into it)
overall..i have to say this is a very good album
i can really tell kelly is starting to put more effort into her music..finding different composers and experimenting new style of music and new style of vocal arrangements
i believe she is going to start her mandarin album real soon after her 6 shows of concert in HK

eason has suprised me
this time his cd aren't your typical canto pop related songs
more than half of the songs in the cd are dance-related
it gives an overall good flow...because sometimes too much music genre can clash and destroy the flow of the cd
all of the tracks are pretty outstanding
track 1 - gives a tropical latin party feeling..and it's suitable to the title 'mario party'...eason does sing about mario too (like mushrooms and rescuing princess)..i like this track a lot
track 2 - another fast song..this one is more on the lounge dance music..a fixed repeated beat...eason plays with his vocals here too..some electronic sounding
track 3 - this gives more of a techno clubbing feeling..it has more electronic music incorporated..but still w/a good beat...eason brings in a lower tone of voice in this song too..working with his vocals (because most of his songs were sung pretty high)..and it has a catchy chorus (with a repetition of the word 'flash')
track 4 - fast upbeat song..i believe eason is using this for his concert theme song (since this song is called concert live gig)...eason sings pretty fast here too..fast verus + chorus..it has a catchy chorus too..so i'm sure it'll bring up the atmosphere when he sings this live
track 6 - the only slow song in his cd..it's really song too..has a good piano intro with a bit of 'fantasy music' into it..the lyrics seemed to be pretty interesting..not sure the full meaning..but 'crying in the party' really gives a straight-forward point...and eason's vocals was again pretty high..showing his great abilities
track 8 - love the intro..electronic music + beat...this song gives a bit a 'roman law + leslie cheung' feeling..very mysterious and 'yiu' feel...again high vocals
there were 2 songs that was composed by eason (track 7 + 10)..i didn't find it too outstanding..but it's nice to see eason taking effort into making his own music
the remix cd was really nice too
it adds more of the clubbing feel to each song
even crying in the party changes from a slow song to a slow song w/a techno beat
overall i really enjoyed the cd..eason has suprised me again

September 30, 2007 great songat first..this song wasn't too outstanding..but after a few times..the chorus and the musical arrangements really gets into your head
hyde's vocals are nicely done..i love how he reaches high in the chorus
the overall music flow draws back to the 90s..i always enjoyed l'arc en ciel's musical arrangments..it's different from the melody..yet it blends well together
the p'unk en ciel verison is nicely arranged too..a catchy drum beat and guitar with a nice melody

September 30, 2007 WONDERFULi always loved kary and her great vocal range and trying new and different musical styles
this cd is the same
the last cd was more on the rock side..with a few catchy karaoke canto pop
this cd..she completely change her style to a more hip hop, r&b dancing lady with less karaoke yet strong canto music
all of her tracks were well done..each made a great impact on me
track 1 - love her duet with justin..their vocals blend very well together..it's a very light-hearted hip hop jam..and i love the english part in the middle..it's not so rapping..but just fast paced
the overall track flow is nicely organized too
after the finishing of a hip hop jam
moves on to track 2 - a slow hip hop jam..this perhaps is my favourite track in the cd...she has a wide vocal range..beginning with low notes..then singing higher and higher at the chorus..this song also gives a little bit of a karaoke feel..so it's highly catchy and memorable
track 3 - slow typical canto song..but not much on the karaoke side cause the melody doesn't have that commerical catchy-ness..but it's still a wonderful song with nice lyrics - about a girl who's realizing she's been pushing her boyfriend too much..hoping that he will forgive her...and also..this song is made to show off her vocals..it's very very high and her voice carries it well w/no squeekiness..very well done..i heard her sing live for this song too..it's right on tune..no off keys at all..this shows how greatly improved she is
track 4 - fast track..sang all in english..this is more on the disco/techno side rather than the hip hop side..love the beat that made it very catchy
track 5 - at first when you listen..you seem a bit on the 'uhhh' side..but after a few times..it's so catchy and the bass gives the spark to the song..another fast paced..heavily based on the hip hop side..it has a heavy bass beat..repeated throughout the song..and she sings with great emotion here as well..rapping in the middle..catchy chorus..everything well done
track 6/7 - slow jams..more a bit on the karaoke side..both outstanding as it once again shows her great vocal range
track 8 - another hip hop fast song..this is catchy as well..it really shows how kary is trying to try new things..changing her style of music and improving her vocal ability as well as her dancing
track 9 - a very special different song..love the piano intro and how the melody had a lot of 'echo-ing' lines...it also has a rock based chorus...it's hard to describe this song..cause it's so..different and new..i just really enjoyed it
track 10 - slowing down the cd with a slow jam..once again showing her great vocal range
this cd is definitely worth the time to listen to
not only kary is getting prettier..sexier and turning more into a lady
but her music style has greatly changed..her dancing has improved..she has new collaborations with different artists and composers

September 30, 2007 good improvementstephy has been slowly improving her music and her vocals..her past two cds..she gave a more of a angelic voice which kinda annoyed me a bit b/c it wasn't sweet enough with her high-pitched squeeking
this cd however..has some improvement..and i enjoy more tracks this time
track 1 - outstanding..great into to the cd..it's not her typical style..a more of the broadway/musical style..a happy cheerful song..about a girl excited to go on her first date..wondering what she'll say..what she'll do..etc..stephy's voice here is nicely performed..and the melody and music flow well together
track 3 - perhaps another great song in her album..i love the original and the remix verison..the original is on the slow side..with a great piano intro..and it builds up in the chorus and especially the end...a very catchy melody..and greatly written lyrics - about a girl who got jealous of putting a couple together..and now hoping one day they'll break up and she can be together with the guy..this song is overall different from the typical love song..so it gives a great spark..the remix verison uses the slow melody but w/an edgy rock style..good use of guitars and drums..it also builds up the mood and the feeling of the song..not from a the serious slow side..but to a heavy angry side
track 5 - this track is from the same compose who wrote 'apple' in her fantasy cd..i love how she incoporate the chinese musical instruments into a lovely catchy canto pop tune...it's more on a happier side..yet the lyrics is pretty sad about a girl waiting for a guy to come back from his studies..they hardly see each other...and she's been waiting so long that she eventually forgot about him...the lyrics also made references to a olden chinese story..so it made more flow with the instrucments
track 9 - the lyrics written by stephy..this is a typical nice slow canto pop..karaoke feel..easy to catch on..and it has a good musical arrangements
this is also one of the songs stephy doesn't squeek too much..so her vocals are nicely performed

i personally found that there's not enough new songs..i guess this will probably be the only canto album gigi will be releasing this year..so with only 2 new songs..it's hard to gain popularity and attention from audiences
disc 1, track 1 - composed by gigi..the melody is not too outstanding compared to her other songs that she composed..it has a hip hop, r&b feel to it..a medium paced song
disc 2, track 1 - slow song..not too outstanding even to be catchy though
i was enjoying more of her old songs than the new
i personally liked a lot of gigi's songs from when she came out to around the 2003-2004 era..there weren't a lot of songs chosen from that era in this cd (cause the old songs are mostly based on her 2005-2006 era)..but some outstanding tracks were disc 1 - track 2, 3, 12, 14, 16..disc 2 - track 2, 4, 11, 16, 17..those are like..songs very well-known to gigi
onto her 2005-2006 era..gigi had made a great change from her music..she went from a slow-jam karaoke canto pop princess to a sexy hip hop r&b dancing woman
disc 2 - track 8, 9 are perfect examples
her change of music style in her latest era weren't too outstanding..but i like how she tried different styles to work more on her vocal ranges (which had greatly improved)..some memorable tracks are disc 2 - track 3, 10, 15
overall it's been a good selection of the new and old..more heavily based on her recent old songs
gigi spends most of her time in the china market now..doing performances..her latest shangai concert seemed to be a great success

last time..he has chinese musical instrument mixed with hip hop

like track 10 - it's full of piano..yet in the background u hear a hip hop beat..very nice flow and great vocals
track 2 - more on the hip hop side..it's more of a happy upbeat song rather than a dance one..i like this track the best..the lyrics is nice and it gives an encouraging message
track 5/7 - both are slow hip hop jams..it has a nice beat with a good melody..i like how leehom incorporates his previous songs name into the lyrics for track 5..and track 7 has a very catchy chorus that makes it memorable
track 8 - great full of hip hop, r&b..good fast song and there's female vocals involved too..a great colleboration
this is an overall nice cd

i was already drawn by his voice..his unique mature voice that sounds very different from any other artist
onto the cd..the song selection is good..most are typical canto pop..but there are some hip hop fast songs incorporated into it
track 1 - great track..love his vocals..full of emotions and everythings gives a great overall flow
track 2 - this has less arrangment of music..so you hera more of eric's vocals..he can't reach as high as leo or eason..but he still does have a wide range of vocal
track 3 - song composed by eric..didn't even realize he writes his own songs too..i dind't find this song too outstanding..but at least he put effort into creating his own music
track 7 - this song brings back to the 90s feel..great piano intro with the additional of the bass..this song again draws eric's great emotions and very catchy to listen
i've heard track 1/7 live on other performances..all of them was performed with perfect tone..no off-key areas
i saw the dvd of his concert too..all songs performed were great..i like how he tries to be different by dancing..singing other artist's songs..using different musical arrangements
overall this cd is worth your time to listen and watch

February 26, 2007 i'd prefer the cantonese onei was quite excited seeing how hollywood is actually adapting a cantonese movie plotline..which shows hk industry can make great movies
and i thought the hollywood verison would be as exciting as the cantonese verison..but i set my expectations too high
i find this movie to be very lengthy..two and a half hours..the first 30-45 minutes were very slow and boring..i was nodding off cause they wanted to build up the storyline..it didn't work for me..i found it quite unnecessary to go through so much to let the audience know what's going on..they should've cut back on some scenes
it got a bit exciting in the middle..but i didn't find the ending to be too great..if you watched the cantonese verison you know the ending already..the hollywood verison does follow the cantonese verison..but they show everything within a minute or two..seems like a bit of a rush..bam bam bam..this guy dies and that guy dies..the director could've made that part a bit longer..to build up the suspense and make it more exciting
leonardo's acting abilities were fantastic in this movie..throughout the entire movie..he was full of passion and emotion..wonderful performance
i also find how the female lead character was a combination of sammi cheng + kelly chen's character..it added more drama..which was kinda interesting
the setting of the hollywood verison was very americanized..which i find it to be a really well made adaptation
overall..this movie wasn't as great as i thought it would be..i believe there's a sequel to this..not sure if it'll be adapting to the infernal affairs 3 plotline..but hopefully if there is a next one..it would be a lot betterDid you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

February 26, 2007 an alright moviethe plot of this movie is a bit better than the other movies i've been seeing lately..but not too exceptional
it's about solving mysteries..revenge..and how everything links to saddness and pain
both male lead roles showed great acting skills
tony's wife character was performed okay
shu qi didn't have much of a role in this movie..i think she should play tony leung's wife character instead..that would've made the movie more interesting
this movie isn't too slow either..there are some silent scenes..but they're not lengthy..so u keep attended
and this movie isn't too confusing too..they explain everything in the end..and you know about the murder case at the beginning already..but it did made me a bit confused cause i didn't get the overall picture that was going on as the director was giving out little pieces of information at a time..

February 24, 2007 not as great as i expectedwatching from the commerical/previews..thought this movie would be quite action-packed..with lots of fighting and drama
but after watching..it's not quite as i expected
there were not a lot of fighting scenes in the movie..but the scenes were well filmed..i can see lots of hard work and effort was done into making it very profesisonal and skilled..and i can see jay chou's hard work paid off too..cause he does put out a great performance in the fighting..really surprised me from his usual singer side
the acting were quite good..jay chou's acting wasn't too expectional though..but can't blame him since he's not born w/an acting talent..but it's slowly improving from inital d..hopefully his next movie would be better
but overall..the movie is a little bit slow..many quiet scenes...the outfits really surprised me too..never really expected people in the olden times would wear their outfits like that
the plot overall is a bit stupid to me..there were a lot of drama/tension between families and their secrets, lies and evil planning..but the overall picture..is about the empress..having an affair w/one of the king's son..then the king wants to poison her..the empress knows and plans a revenge..and some more shocking events on lost family members..etc etc..it's gives a typical soap opera plotline..and the ending..quite unexpecting..i won't spoil it..but it's just consider an unhappy ending

February 23, 2007 intersting crossovereven though i'm not a great fan of joey..but i have to say this is an interesting music jam
since this concert was nothing too big..so the clothes..stage..everything didn't have to be too glamourous
what amazed me in this concert were their singing and song arrangement..
no need to say that joey & leo are both very talented singers..nice vocals..good range of voicing..full of emotion
i really like their juicy lemon medley..they're able to put some many songs together into one..if you look at the lyrics too..most of their songs linked together..a very intersting mix..espeically near the end..mixing 2 songs together..and switching the music and melody arrangements
most of the songs they sang were the most recent ones..the hit ones..and some of the old golden hits..so there's a mix of everything
and near the end..they did the usual where joey sings leo's songs and leo sings joey's songs..very well done
a good mix

jay chou is a really unique fantastic singer..his music is quite different from any artists in the industry
the main track for the movie starts with a traditional music..and then speeds up with a dark guitar feeling and his famous fast singing/rapping
it's an addictive track..but i didn't find it quite suitable to the mood of the movie though
