　　任明暉是南洋富家女，扮男裝到港協助張白英打理出入口公司業務，暗地裡愛上白英，但白英卻與歌女陳萍仙相戀，明暉於是故意與萍仙交往，談婚論嫁，令白英大吃其醋，一怒之下登報徵婚，明暉寄照片應徵，白英卻選了周曼玲，曼玲原本已有男友林國游，任職舞場侍應，但母親卻因家中欠債而要她嫁金龜婿，並將她的照片寄往應徵，曼玲惟有應酬白英，兩人到舞場遊樂時，明暉與萍仙在演出折子戲《摩登寶玉會紅娘》，氣得白英宣佈將與曼玲結婚，惹來在場的國游誤會，明暉得悉曼玲與國遊之事，借錢給他倆還債結婚，另一方面則冒名伍露薇與白英交往，明暉與萍仙訂婚之日，亦是曼玲與國游過文定之時，萍仙不見未婚夫，到公司找明暉，明暉卒以女裝出現解釋因由，建威告知明暉已給她在新加坡訂了親，結果萍仙與白英訂婚，曼鈴與國游亦順利結合。
