《西廂記》是中國傳統戲曲之一，由岳楓導演，加上當時得令紅星凌波反串張生，影后李菁飾演紅娘，方盈飾演崔鶯鶯，令電影加強了吸引力﹗張生、鶯鶯才子佳人相會；俏紅娘從中繫赤繩；西廂夜訪、私定炵身；崔老夫人知情大怒、憤而拷紅；紅娘怨夫人不該言而無信，終成就百年姻緣﹗故事感人肺腑，長留觀眾心間。
Based on a famous Chinese story, this period drama stars Ivy Ling Po and Li Ching, a beloved on-screen couple even though both are female - Ling Po is renowned for playing male Cantonese opera roles. While visiting a temple, a young scholar is enchanted by the daughter of an important family. When rebels threaten to abduct the girl, the scholar with the assistance of a clever maid, try to save her. In addition , the young maid help bring together the young couple in spite of her family's objections.

WEST CHAMBER ROMANCE
| Three beautiful actresses performed well together in this old-fashioned love story. Ling Po (portrayed as a demure scholar) was enchanted by the beauty of Fong Ying and could not get her out of his mind since the first accidental meeting in the garden.This story revealed the message that "When there's a will, there's a way" but NOT without the obstacles and persistant help of the sensitive,cheeky maid played by Li Jing. The colour, costumes and songs were lovely but the style of Huangmei music and lyrics were a bit different from the others.Anyway, it's still worthwhile to grab this movie while still available and I am awaiting mine from Yesasia soon. |
