Good fights; bad acting Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
"When Taekwondo Strikes" tells a familiar story of the Japanese occupation era -- brave resistance forces battling evil Japanese oppressors. This time the story is set primarily in Korea in order to introduce the film world to the fighting skills of Korean taekwondo master Rhee Jhoon Goo, who plays the leader of the Korean resistance. While the movie delivers spectacular martial arts pyrotechnics from both Rhee and from Angela Mao, the film is saddled with a thin, trite story and a host of amateurish actors, including Mr. Rhee. Sometimes it seems like the only person in the film who can act at all is Miss Mao. On the other hand, the film does serve up the delight of seeing Sammo Hung (as an evil Japanese thug) getting his butt repeatedly kicked by women. Recommended only for fans of Angela Mao and chop-socky movies.
