小學生松松是一個聰明可愛的男孩兒。但自從他的父母離婚後，臉上長出現憂慮的神情，因為每天接送他上下學的只是家裡的一只白鵝。松松和爸爸陳佐在一起，陳佐是個火車司機，他經常外出，每次外出前，他都勒令松松不許去看媽媽。一個細雨綿綿的秋天，松松放學回家時丟了鑰匙。他在寒雨中立很久，終於下決心去找媽媽。可是，他來到媽媽家，隔窗一看，媽媽正同一小女孩和一個男人在親昵地吃飯。失望的松松，又跑到火車站去找爸爸，可陳佐連影子也不見，松松喪地走出車站。他一陣陣咳嗽，頭雲目眩地栽倒在天橋上……
病危的松松被送進醫院，方老師、爸爸、媽媽焦急地守候在松松身旁。
天亮了，在昔日松松上學的小路上，只有那只白鵝沿著鐵軌蹣跚地著、走著——似乎是在尋找它過去的小主人……
He is kid in a broken family.He needs the boys,sweets,picture-books,kisses and caresses which every expects from their parents.His father is an engine driver who is too busy to take good care of him. Though he misses his mother,he is not allowed to see her.He is so lonely that he finds the lovely white goose his only companion.
Advised byhis classmate,he tries a childsh trick to make his parents love each other again but in vain. it is not until his father tries to hide him from his girl friend that he learns he is an obstacle to his father's remarriage.Knowing that Mummy still loves him,he goes to her only to find she belongs to someone else.
In despairm,he walks back in a heavy rain.He catches cold.lack of parental care turns this minor illness into a fatal one.When he is finally rushed to the hospital.It is already too late.On his death bed,his mouth trembles,seemingly asking:"Why was I born?"
