It would be a huge regret for music lovers if they don't pick up Tsai Chin's latest release. Loved for her velvet-like vocals, the Taiwan music legend's life and career cannot be separated from the visual art of films. She was once married to the late director Edward Yang, and has sung theme songs to many classic films and television series. Without Regrets puts in one place nine selected theme songs by the diva (four of which are live performances), plus "A Love Letter to Filmmakers", a song celebrating the centennial of Chinese cinema.
As a testament to Tsai Chin's perfectionism, the album is pressed in Germany to ensure the best possible sound. The accompanying DVD contains the music videos of the same 10 songs.

Tsai Chins Without Regrets (DVD + CD) Album
| This her 56th album is a 10 track CD (and DVD) includes themes from classic films and current TV series for example My brothers and sisters (track 1), without (or no) regrets (track 2), A love letter to filmmakers (track 3, which celebrates the centennial of Chinese cinema), Flower after the rain (track 4), How could I not miss him (track 5) and Minutes and seconds (track 6). The following tracks are taken from her live stage performances number 9 from her acclaimed 'Endless Love Tour 2007' (which I don't recall hearing at her Singapore concert on 18 August 2007) and the remaining three from her "New Endless Love " concert which is a sequel to the 'Endless Love Tour' which included some of her classics as well as her rendition of songs by for example by Jacky Cheung, Phil Chang, Angus Tong and Wang Jie. It would be nice if this album (DVD) could be issued on blu-ray together with the cd with the ability to watch without subtitles, although in this album they are quite restrained as compared with other DVD's. It would be nice for the 'New Endless Love' concert to be issued on Blu-ray or DVD and CD, the footage and music is obviously available. I saw this concert when she came to Singapore on the 23rd May 2009. |
