The following tracks are taken from her live stage performances number 9 from her acclaimed 'Endless Love Tour 2007' (which I don't recall hearing at her Singapore concert on 18 August 2007) and the remaining three from her "New Endless Love " concert which is a sequel to the 'Endless Love Tour' which included some of her classics as well as her rendition of songs by for example by Jacky Cheung, Phil Chang, Angus Tong and Wang Jie. It would be nice if this album (DVD) could be issued on blu-ray together with the cd with the ability to watch without subtitles, although in this album they are quite restrained as compared with other DVD's. It would be nice for the 'New Endless Love' concert to be issued on Blu-ray or DVD and CD, the footage and music is obviously available. August 25, 2009 Tsai Chin's album Old chinese Songs
This album was originally issued by UFO Group (United Filmmakers Organisation) in July 1985 and was her 12 album. Her previous 10 albums were with Han International ( 9) and Four Seas (1) when she then transferred to the UFO label, this album and her previous one and subsequent ones for UFO show an increase in sophistication in both style of the pictures on album covers (including losing of the spectacles) and the music inside. I was introduced to her music by my aunt in l989 with this album, which comprises as the title says ( famous) chinese old songs for which new arrangements have been made modernizing the songs, for example Silly to wait and wait (track 1), Cold rain chant (track 2), Falling flower moving in the water (track 3), Is it a dream or real (track 4), Until the day you come I wait (track 5), Three Years (track 6), Tell you the blue love (track 7), Red tears (track 8), Year after Year (track 9) and Pity we didn't meet before we were married (track 10) some of which have become her hallmark songs. (1)Our Price: US$33.99Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysRelated promotions:April 2, 2009 Tsai Chin Concert Hall - Golden Voice (Blu-Ray)The 'concert' is minimalist as to the content of the the videos and the musical arrangements as there is a heavy reliance on Ms Chin's voice to to bring over the subject matter, which on the Blu-Ray version the soundtrack is very well done. This format certainly improves the viewer's experience. I won't dwell on the songs and their musical style as these are covered very well on the DVD version reviews. The special features as per the DVD edition are faithfully replicated, on/off subtitles. making of etc. I would have given this edition 10 stars if like the DVD version (which I purchased previously to this version coming out) it was accompanied by the audio CD, and when one considers the modest cost of CDs and the price of premium product (Blu-Ray disc) it seems remiss on the part of the issuer. The story relates to conflicts between two of these kingdoms, namely the Yan and the Zhao plus some internal power politics and how a young princess goes to Empress and from girl to woman and her relationship with the two most important men in her life (excluding her father). The more intimate scenes are well handled. For both Leon Lai and Kelly Chen this is their first 'historical' film of this type. The Blu-Ray edition allows one to clearly see the intricate patterns and finer detail on the armour on the various protagonists, to appreciate the clearness of the images of large numbers of men whether or not on the battlefield. The armour of Yan appears to be based on western concepts from the 15th and 16th Centuries whilst that of Zhao is based on Japanese concepts. The battlefield scenes are well done and I think for the first time include a large number of war chariots not normally seen in chinese movies of this type. Did you find this review helpful? This blu-ray version is excellent as the additional capacity of the disc enables greater detail to be seen of the concert especially her costumes (see the green one and the detail of the patterns that are evident) and the audio. Additionally, I liked the fact that this disc has removable subtitles (which was a feature of her 2 DVD original 2001 Walk Together Concert but sadly lacking in subsequent concerts), as I find that subtitles can take up to a third of the picture size and to my mind reduce the viewing pleasure. I also liked the play all feature as I have seen a previous version of this concert on blu-ray was merely a copy of the 3 DVD Disc set and when you came to the end say disc 1 you then had to access the next disc in the Menu to continue watching the concert.
