This isn't the first time that internationally acclaimed kung fu superstar Gordon Liu (Kill Bill) has played the legendary Wong Fei Hung. In the mid-1970s, Liu got his big break playing the celebrated boxer as a teenager. What prompted him to reprise the role in this CCTV production? Well, it was the chance to play Master Wong as a patriotic, romantic hero!

In this retelling of the Wong Fei Hung legend, Master Wong competes with Zhabuer, a powerful Qing military officer, for the heart of the western-educated "13th Aunt" (played by famous actress Flora Chan). Complicating matters are his involvement with underground revolutionaries, and the emergence of a pair of mysterious kung fu thieves called "Iron Monkey" and "Cat Lady." When Zhabuer finally reveals his scheming and malicious nature, can Master Wong and his disciples thwart his evil plans?
