Eita (Last Friends, Giniro no Season) and Eikura Nana (Meichan no Shitsuji, My Sister, My Love) draw tears and cheers as a young couple who face their last month together with unfailing love and courage. Based on a touching true story that was also chronicled in a TBS documentary and a best-selling book, April Bride was a huge hit in Japan, and helped raise awareness about breast cancer among young women.

Soon after meeting and falling in love with salaryman Taro (Eita), bubbly 23-year-old Chie (Eikura Nana) is diagnosed with breast cancer. She tries to keep her illness a secret, but her condition worsens. She leaves Taro when she learns she has to undergo a mastectomy, but he determinedly searches for her. Touched by his love, Chie vows to fight the disease, but time is not on her side. When Taro and Chie find out that she only has a month's time left, they choose to live life to the fullest, making the final walk to the altar together.

イベント・コンパニオンの千恵は、とある展示会場で知り合った太郎から、交際を申し込まれた。乳がんを患う千恵は、悩みながらも太郎と付き合い始めるが、やがて自分の病気のことや、胸を切除しなければならないことを告白し、太郎に別れを告げたまま姿を消してしまう。そんな千恵に太郎は『一緒に頑張ろう』と伝え、再び共に歩き始めるのだが、ついに医師から"余命1ヶ月"を宣告され…。

2007年に放送され、全国に大反響の嵐を巻き起こした真実のドキュメンタリー「余命1ヶ月の花嫁」。後にTVでは伝え切れなかった心情をリアルに綴った書籍が出版され、榮倉奈々を主演に迎えての実写映画化となった。若年性乳がんと闘いながら、検診の大切さと生きることの素晴らしさを伝え続けた長島千恵さんと、彼女を支えた周囲の人々との愛と絆が丁寧に描かれている。恋人役の瑛太をはじめ、柄本明や手塚理美、大杉漣など、共演陣にも豪華な顔ぶれが揃っている。
