good movie
| One of Nic's first movie's, he did a pretty good job. Yes, this movie is really violent, but it really does depict what actually happens in HK, or in any triad for that matter. This stuff actually does occur every day, so I would say if you don't like the truth, don't watch this movie. It's one of the most realistic movies I've seen, and actually one of the better HK movies I've seen in a while. |

On par with Y&D 3
|
After the dismal 'Young and Dangerous 5', director Andrew Lau and script writer Manfred Wong teamed up to introduce young talent such as Nicholas Tse and Sam Lee to reprise the Hung Hing boys in their early days of Triad life. Chan Ho-Nam (Tse) and his school/bandmates Chicken (Lee), Pou Pan and Chou Pan (what happened to Yee?) are kicked out of school for singing a rock song representing anti-school culture in a music contest and are labelled 'bad apples' of the neighbourhood by teachers. After being beaten down by Piggy - the protege of Hung Hing gangster Kwan (Francis Ng), the boys are locked up and accused of anti-social behaviour and known as 'Gu Wak Jai's'. After being bailed out by Uncle Bee (Ng Chi Hung) Ho-Nam and his crew decide to follow Bee. While becoming a part of Hung Hing, Ho-Nam is attracted to Fei (Shu Qui) the girlfriend of Bee's older protege Big Head (Daniel Wu). We see the Causeway Boys rise through the ranks of Hung Hing as they deal with death, beatings, love and rivalry. This film is much more enjoyable than the first 2 installments in the 'Y&D' series, as it delivers very good performances by Nicholas Tse and Sam Lee (was just as good as he was in 'Beast Cops')- brilliant as Chicken. We also see cameos by Sandra Ng as the infamous Sister 13 and Kirsty Yung as Yung (short but funny). Fancis Ng and Ng Chi Hung are good as ever as they play thier characters in the original. Shu Qui is a bit out of place as I think she was casted mainly because of her sex appeal, but a great storyline and lots of action provides a good enough background for bloody violence and strong performances (Daniel Wu was also good). Out of all of the series, this installment is probably the most violent and brutal out of the lot as we do get the occaisional quick humour to provide a sense of entertainment. On the level of 'Young and Dangerous 3', 'Yound and Dangerous: The Prequel' provides a heap load of triad action with a cool soundtrack featuring Nicholas Tse (as some hate him - probably out of jealousy) which makes it a must for fans of the series. |

extremely violent
| i watched this movie a few years ago and it did not bother that much. but then tried to watch it again and really cannot watch this because this movie is way too violent and the stuff they do are horrible in the name of humanity. it's totally awful the violent scenes. this is a typical triad gang movie with lots of blood, fighting, chopping, gush, etc. you name it, it's got it. too violent. |

Certainly YOUNG and definitely DANGEROUS
| Just when the Y&D phenomenon was starting to become a bit stilted and stale, this prequel injects a new batch of fresh blood into the series. The casting is spot on and all the younger characters are fantastic facsimiles of the original Y&D cast, they also make good use of original actors too. This is a great vehicle for the actors to show more than than their pretty faces and deliver some stunning peroformances. The film is very true and faithful to the original series but stands out on its own as a triadic drama. The action is well grounded and gives a great view of the gritty reality of Hong Kong street fighting. In addition to the action packed scenes the film provides some really heart aching moments as Ho Nam discovers his mothers death in as well as some fun and comedy delivered by all the boys. The best moment is when Nicholas Tse and Sam Lee are being 'cured' of their addiction to drugs combining both harsh brutality and tender moments between the boys and their big brother. This insight into the original friendship of Chan Ho Nam and the rest of his buddies, and their slip into the path of becoming triads is truely brillant. |

Greatest Movie of All Time
| Nic is so hot in this movie. The story line is great. His friends in here are also good actors. The fighting was great. Loved it. I wish I could give it more than a 10. |

It's very good!
| This must be the best Y&D movie I've eeeever seen. I gots to give Nic Tse much props for a good performance. You bet he can act! Sam Lee too, man he's so freakin funny! Hahahaha! The story is interesting of how the boys end up in the triad. It's more emotional, there's a lot of funny parts too. You better believe it. The best Y&D I've eeeeeever seen. |

Young and Dangerous
Young and Dangerous
| Excellent prequel to an Excellent series. The new young actors gave a fresh new look to the Young and Dangerous series. The user friendly DvD was an much needed update to the older Young and Dangerous DvD versions. |
