Heroic bloodshed director Chang Cheh changes gears with Young People, a youth drama set in 1960s Hong Kong. David Keung stars as a drummer in a music band who desires peace between the rival factions at his school. Di Lung is the captain of the basketball team, who looks down upon the peace loving kids, and is a rival to Chan Koon Tai, as the martial arts captain. The three men are cornerstones of three separate beliefs and outlets of youth, and it's only through perseverance - and a few knockdown, free-for-all street fights - that harmony and friendship can be restored. Chang Cheh brings his celebrated themes of righteousness and male-bonding to Young People, but substitutes swinging sixties do-gooders for the usual blood-and-guts martial arts masters of his kung-fu epics. Featuring an iron triangle of Shaw Brothers leading men, Young People is an unexpected film from the master of heroic bloodshed.

But the charm is its cornices . The longstanding rivalry between a music club and a sports club is compounded by their leaders’ mutual interest in a girl . The film is also notable for it’s fledgling lead actors who would become huge Shaw stars as their career progressed .

Big 3 in Charming + Enjoyable film
| Nice to see the big 3, David Chiang, Ti Lung and Chen Kuan Tai square off each other in harmless way. Other usual Chang gang get lots to do including Bolo(Heroic Ones) and Wu Man. No blood bath or corrupt higher ups. Just sit back and enjoy a film from the more innocent 70s. Amazing looking transfer the sound mix is original one. Also look for Fu Sheng as an extra,(he plays drums next to David Chiang). The songs are great and nice sounding. Chen Kuan Tai steals the show as man who only says 2 syllabals at the same time. |

Any film with the "gorgeous duo" is always enjoyable for me! David Chiang and Ti Lung are as handsome and charismatic as ever... David Chiang...the Leader of the Music/Drama Club, Ti Lung...Captain of the Basketball Team, Chen Kuan Tai...Leader of the Martial Arts Club are school rivals. See the groups fight, joke and later team up together. Great music by Agnes Chen, this film has alittle of everything...go-cart racing, kung fu, music, basketball and basically life in general. This film shows the value of friendships. |

| This is definitely a flop for director Chang Cheh despite the great cast ( David Chiang, Ti Lung, Chen Kuan Tai..). The story line is too simplified and bored...However, the songs by Agnes Chan are still memorable ( Circle Games, You got a friend )... |
