Zatoichi Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
2003/4 seems a good yr for bloody samurai films, out of those films i think kill bill vol 1 will definitely lead the way, but Zatoichi will closely follow.

The actually format of the film is bit strange, in that there are 3 stories, and Zatoichi is the connection between them. I guess the character Zatoichi brought out the characters from all the stories with strong contrast with the ronin sword man.

Actor and director Takeshi once again shows his charisma and talent by bring in muscial element into the film, overall a great film, but i do like the use of cgi "blood" effect and the screentime Zatoichi seem little compared to other character.

Mediocre! Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
I have to admit, while watching this movie i was a bit hesitant, not knowing if it would indeed live up to a giant name Zatoichi. I was quite disappointed. He never gave the same emotions, the same feelings Ichi-san was reknown for. Although a small deal, he carried the sword wrong too! All in all, if there was ONE movie to be called Zatoichi, it would be Shintaro Katsu's Zatoichi movie. The right man for the legend that Ichi-san is known for. Lets leave Mr. Takeshi with his Takeshi castle and his Battle Royale.
