The daughter of Shaw Brothers actress Cheng Pei Pei, the American-born Marsha Yuan has appeared in various Hong Kong dramas and films, most recently the comedy Men Suddenly in Black 2, but her first passion lies with music. A graduate of New York's American Musical & Dramatic Academy, Marsha is classically trained in singing and has starred in numerous musicals in Hong Kong, including The Sound of Music.
Marsha spared no expenses for her debut EP, which consists of five fusion jazz tracks. The music was recorded in Shanghai in 5.1 surround sound to ensure the best audio quality, and music videos were made for all the songs to combine into a short musical film. Title track Just For You (Track 2) was written by Marsha herself, with lyrics penned by her good friend Ursule Wong, daughter of the late James Wong. Marsha especially wrote the lively and moving Just For You as a birthday present for her mother. Along with songs like the blues-influenced "What is Love" (Track 4), Marsha brings a refreshing new voice to the Chinese music scene.
This release comes with a DVD of her musical film "In Love with Coffee".
