UJI ROCK FESTIVAL'12への出演、ライブ会場限定「faraway girl EP」のリリースからプラネタリウムツアー全7公演ソールドアウト等、今夏もめまぐるしく活動を展開するDE DE MOUSEが前作「A journey to freedom」から2年半の時を経て、いよいよ4枚目となるフルアルバムをリリース！アルバムタイトルは「sky was dark」
同時に公開されたジャケット写真は、本人が制作の根源と語るニュータウンを舞台にし、町並み・建物があらゆる形で合成された存在感のあるものとなっている。コンセプトとストーリー性は今まで以上に徹底的に突き詰められており、今回のキーワードは「時間」だという。タイトル／曲順も含めてトータルで一つの物語として進んでいく今作には、ブックレットにアルバムの序章となる自身が書いた短編小説も封入。
リリース日の10月17日はDE DE MOUSEの誕生日であり、この日より"not records"を立ち上げ今作品はレーベル第一作となる。
