Based on Hirano Keiichiro's Yomiuri Prize-winning novel Aru Otoko, A Man reunites Gukoroku - Traces of Sin director Ishikawa Kei, screenwriter Mukai Kosuke and star Tsumabuki Satoshi for a mystery that goes in unexpected directions.

Attorney Kido Akira (Tsumabuki Satoshi) receives a strange request from client Taniguchi Rie (Ando Sakura) to do a background check on her late husband Daisuke (Kubota Masataka). She had been happily married to Daisuke, but lost him suddenly to an accident. On the day of Daisuke's memorial service, his estranged older brother Kyoichi (Mashima Hidekazu) showed up. Upon seeing the portrait of the deceased, Kyoichi told Rie a shocking truth: her beloved husband was not Daisuke but a completely different person whose real name she didn't ever know. Kido meets various people while searching for the true identity of this man who lived as another person.

【ストーリー】
弁護士の城戸（妻夫木聡）は、依頼者の里枝（安藤サクラ）から、亡くなった夫「大祐」（窪田正孝）の身元調査という奇妙な相談を受ける。里枝は離婚を経て子供を連れて故郷に戻り、「大祐」と再婚。そして新たに生まれた子供と４人で幸せな家庭を築いていたが、ある日「大祐」が不慮の事故で命を落としてしまう。長年疎遠になっていた大祐の兄・恭一が法要に訪れ、遺影を見ると「これ、大祐じゃないです」と衝撃の事実を告げる。愛したはずの夫「大祐」は、名前もわからないまったくの別人だったのだ……。
