Known for pink and V-cinema splatter films, director Sato Hisayasu lives up to his notoriety with the trippy and sadistic erotic horror The Eye's Dream, which was selected for the 2017 International Film Festival Rotterdam. Not for the faint-hearted, the extreme film shocks, challenges and disturbs with unsettling visions of body horror, sexual perversion, voyeurism and grotesque violence.
In the dark city of Tokyo, young one-eyed photographer Maya (Marissa) wanders around with her camera in search of eyeballs. Maya's obsession with eyes links back to a traumatic violent experience in her past, and neurologist Sata (Nakano Tsuyoshi) wants to document her phantom pain in a film. Also roaming through the city is a mysterious serial attacker who gouges out the eyeballs of victims. When these three people come together, a bloody tragedy begins.
