在2020年﹐我原本的計劃是制作一張全新的專輯﹐會是我自2016年以來的第一張完整專輯。然而﹐2021年初﹐我卻面臨嚴峻的健康問題﹐同時新冠病毒也在全球肆虐。很長一段時間里﹐我的行動能力受限﹐但腦海中依然充滿了靈感和想法。我做了筆記﹐并錄制了簡單的語音備忘﹐以便日後回顧。每當情況允許﹐我就會在筆記本電腦上一步一步地梳理這些想法。心里清楚地知道﹐我要制作一張聽起來自然且簡約的專輯﹐既多樣化又不復雜﹐既復古又與當下契合。在我人生中的這個特別時刻﹐萬事停滯不前﹐給予了我充分的時間去反思過去､認真思考眼前的一切﹐并幻想未來。《夢想家》﹙ The Dreamer﹚這個名字象征著﹐即使面對疾病和人生的種種挑戰﹐我依然在這里﹐充滿了創造的意境和滿懷的夢想。

到了2022年中期﹐我的健康有所改善﹐但恢復之路依然漫長。我突破那如困獸一般的感覺﹐著手去實現這個專輯的計劃﹐作為這段歷程的回憶錄。我渴望將自己的弱勢轉化為力量﹐創作出一張讓我深感自豪及富有特殊意義的專輯。我最喜歡《The Dreamer》的地方在於它打破了流派標簽的束縛﹐它并不屬於實驗性或尖端層面的嘗試﹐盡管它可以歸為流行音樂﹐但實際上它融合了多種風格﹐幾乎完美地捕捉到了音樂錶達的純粹快樂。由於身體的狀況﹐我發現坐在餐桌上使用手持麥克風錄制更為適意﹐所以專輯中的十首歌曲中﹐有九首便是在餐桌上制作和編排的﹐完全由我一人完成。當身體狀況允許時﹐我就會拿起麥克風﹐不管窗外是否下雨﹐鄰居是否在裝修。

就這樣﹐我開始了創作一張能給人帶來安慰的專輯。近年來﹐在世界的一片混亂中﹐我從生活的簡單瞬間､青春記憶､時光流轉的反思以及那些讓我覺得怪趣的事物中獲得啟發而創作的歌曲之中找到了安寧。
