Director Narushima Izuru (Father of the Milky Way Railroad) adapts Machida Sonoko's novel 52 Hertz Whales into a sensitive, stirring film about trauma and healing. Carrying the wounds of her past, Kiko (Sugisaki Hana) moves from Tokyo to a seaside town where she meets a boy (Kuwana Tori) who has been abused and can no longer speak. Having been abused and exploited by her own family, Kiko is unable to ignore the boy and begins taking care of him. Eventually, the boy, who had no dreams or future, begins to develop a single "wish." Determined to grant that wish, Kiko thinks back to the days she spent with Ango (Shison Jun), whom she can no longer meet. Ango heard her silent, lonely call for help and rescued her. Now Kiko must step up to hear the voice she was unable to hear back then.

【ストーリー】
傷を抱え、東京から海辺の街の一軒家へと移り住んできた貴瑚は、虐待され、声を出せなくなった「ムシ」と呼ばれる少年と出会う。かつて自分も、家族に虐待され、搾取されてきた彼女は、少年を見過ごすことが出来ず、一緒に暮らし始める。やがて、夢も未来もなかった少年に、たった一つの“願い”が芽生える。その願いをかなえることを決心した貴瑚は、自身の声なきSOSを聴き取り救い出してくれた、今はもう会えない安吾とのかけがえのない日々に想いを馳せ、あの時、聴けなかった声を聴くために、もう一度 立ち上がる─。
