A15 - AMeiZING World Tour Live Album (Blu-ray)December 4, 2013 great entertainment
This is a great concert from the wonderful a-mei. She still sounds great after all these years. The blu ray is great picture quality and the sound is every bit as good. Great value too as its nearly 3 hours long. As a long time fan I loved it!

September 24, 2012 Ghostly fun
This film has very little in common with the first movie other than starring some of the same cast. Despite the difference in tone between the two movies its enjoyable enough. A great looking (i watched the 2d version) blu ray and its also region free. The sound is a genuine 24 bit 96khz track which was confirmed by my amplifier.

September 8, 2012 Speedy fun!
I loved this film! Great entertainment from start to finish. Some very solid acting from the whole cast. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of barbie hsu but you cant everything. Some very good stunt driving and a decent story line make this a must see film. The blu ray picture is very good. The audio is a real treat as its a genuine 96khz dolby true 7.1 soundtrack.
The Second Woman (2012) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)July 31, 2012 double helping of shu qi
A slow moving but entertaining movie with plenty of twists and turns. Shu qi excellent playing twin sisters. Shawn yue is the guy they both want. Top quality picture and the sound is excellent. It has a genuine 24bit 96hz dolby true track which lifts it above the usual.

July 18, 2012 Charming tale
This film deserves all the praise it has had. Its a real heartwarming tale that has much to say about getting older. If this film does not move you then you must be dead already. The blu ray has great picture quality. Despite a 7.1 surround track there is not really much going on as its a dialogue driven movie. Worth a mention is the new dolby true advanced 96k upsamling logo on the disc and the package. Not sure how that is true as my amplifier and blu ray player both said it was a 48k track.
Rouge (1988) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)June 19, 2012 Masterpiece!
This blu ray release looks much better than all the previous dvd versions. Very little print damage is visible and the colours have more depth to them. Black levels are a little too black at times though. Full marks also for going to the trouble of a 7.1 soundtrack on what is for the most part a dialogue driven movie. The film itself is brilliant of course! Two of hong kongs finest at the top of their game, both sadly no longer with us. Buy it now!

April 24, 2012 Fun
This is a fun film thats worth seeing. The plot wanders around a bit and some of the effects are certainly not special but i have seen far worse. Picture quality on this 2d blu ray is very good indeed. Audio was average but i felt they could have made better use of the surrounds with some well placed effects. There were plenty of flying swords so i would have expected a much better 360 degree sound stage. Default soundtrack was the cantonese soundtrack but i suspect it should have been the mandarin one. Not an essential purchase, but a worthwhile one.

April 21, 2012 Sammi is back
This film is not the best we have seen from sammi cheng but its still a delight to see her back on screen. Its an entertaining movie though and a welcome break from all the period movies of late. The blu ray picture quality is not really up there with the best of them lacking definition at times partly due to the rather washed out blacks in the movie. The sound was decent enough with good bass extension on the dts 7.1 track that i played.

April 6, 2012 Action packed.
Dante lam is on form with this action packed movie! The pace is pretty much non stop throughout. Both jay chou and nicolas tse turn in good performances. Tse probably had no problem learning his lines though as he does not say much! The blu ray disc looks great throughout the movie. I listened to the dts 7.1 surround track which was brilliant and really packed a punch and had good directional effects. A must purchase movie.

March 13, 2012 YAWN!
I had been looking forward to watching this film a lot. However, it turned out to be a bitter dissapointment. Its such a dull story and the only bright spot was lau ching wan. Picture quality was very good. Sound was fine although despite being in 7.1 surround very little was heard out of the surround speakers as its very much a dialogue driven film.

January 11, 2012 average movie
This blu ray suffers from a rather poor black level throughout the movie and as a result the picture can be a bit washed out. Not a lot going on in the surround channels but it steps up a notch during the action scenes. Not one of cecilia cheungs best movies and not an easy watch for western viewers. The humour is often to broad for western viewers. As usual for wong jings films the lead actors go way overboard on the madcap antics. Ok, but not very memorable.

December 9, 2011 classic from the 80s
This film is a classic movie of the 1980s that should be in every movie lovers collection. The blu ray picture is fantastic for a movie of this age and the sound is nice and punchy without over doing the surround effects. A fantastic disc for a very entertaining film. The only complaint i would have is that the english subtitles have not been updated and still make no sense at times.
The Sorcerer And The White Snake (2011) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)December 7, 2011 great fun
I really enjoyed this movie a lot. It is a light hearted fun movie from start to finish. Sure it is packed with cgi effects (some of it below par)but what movie is not these days? Any movie that stars eva huang and charlene choi as snakes gets my vote! The blu ray disc looks great and sounds great. The making of feature also has english subtitles as well. This movie does not offer anything new, but its fun entertainment and sometimes thats enough.

A great fun movie from start to finish! This blu ray is superb and shows how good these old movies can look with a bit of effort. Colours are natural and no print damage is visible. The 7.1 surround also adds to the movie greatly as it adds some nice ambience and resists the urge to just make everything loud. A spectacular upgrade on the original dvd. If you like these classic movies then this blu ray is as good as a 25 year old movie can look.
Shanghai Grand (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)December 1, 2011 grand indeed!
This is a great film and should be everyones collection! I bought this a long time ago on vhs tape and then again on dvd. This blu ray has an excellent picture that is better than the dvd but it looks like its in the wrong aspect ratio and picture information is lost on all 4 sides. The sound is truly awful! The music and bass have been pumped up to stupid levels through all channels meaning the dialogue is buried. As i dont speak chinese and need the english subtitles i got by, but it could be really annoying for those of you lucky enough to speak the language. Also because of the constant assault of the music the heart and soul of the movie was lost. If you dont have a 7.1 surround set up like i do and are watching using sound via a tv it might not be so bad.
Eastern Condors (1987) (Blu-ray) (Kam & Ronson Version) (Hong Kong Version)November 24, 2011 great action
I bought this blu ray as i have always loved this movie. The film remains a classic of hong kong cinema. The blu ray picture is way better than the original dvd version and shows real quality in the jungle scenes. The audio though is very poor. The centre channel dialogue was very uneven in volume throughout the film. The surround sound was utterly lifeless. Maybe this movie would have been better just as a 2 channel stereo release as its a dissapointment in this department. Still worth an upgrade to the blu ray though if you are a fan of this movie.
Armour of God II (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)November 16, 2011 top form
This blu ray disc is one of the better quality efforts from kam and ronson. The colours are much better than the dvd version. Sound although very bass light by modern standards is a good deal better than all previous versions. The film is excellent entertainment. Jackie was on top form for this one. English veiwers may wonder why everyone speaks fluent cantonese no matter where they are from though! An essential purchase though.
Unforgettable Concert 2010 (Blu-ray)November 4, 2011 andy rocks!
This blu ray disc is excellent. Both the picture and sound are excellent. Andy lau really deserves all the sucsess he has had over the last 30 years. He clearly works hard to stay at the top of his game. This disc is great entertainment from start to finish - and i speak no chinese! Its a shame the behind the scenes footage had no no english subtitles because i would have liked to have heard what andy had to say.

October 14, 2011 classy
This is a different type of film for donnie yen. He gives a good performance in a film with many twists and turns. Not what i was expecting this film, but enjoyable. Takaeshi kaneshiro was excellent as always. Tang wei was a bit under used. The blu ray has excellent picture quality apart from some rather washed out looking blacks throughout the movies. I played the dts master audio 7.1 which had some punch when needed. Worth buying.

This movie was a big hit in china but really does not work for us in the west. Apart from a couple of laugh out loud moments its not an easy film to watch as it makes very little sense! Picture and sound were good on the blu ray but otherwise a bit of a dissapointment.
