Lin Gengxin steps into the role of one of the most famed warriors of the Three Kingdoms period in the epic series Chinese Hero Zhao Zi Long. The popular new-generation actor portrays Zhao Zilong (or Zhao Yun) starting from his younger days when he suffers the loss of his parents and the persecution of enemies trying to steal the powerful sword his family has sworn to protect. From these great trials, he grows as a warrior, steadily advancing his martial arts skills through hard training and fateful encounters, and winning the respect of both friends and foes with his courage and integrity. His legend and legions growing with every battle, Zhao wanders in search of a just lord worthy of his service, eventually joining the company of Liu Bei played by Yan Yikuan (The Three Heroes and Five Gallants).

Besides romanticized exploits drawn from Romance of the Three Kingdoms folklore, Chinese Hero Zhao Zi Long adds romance with Korean idol Im Yoon Ah in dual roles. Making her Chinese television debut, the Girls' Generation member plays Zhao's fated love and the daughter of his mortal enemy. Other cast members include Korean singer-actor Kim Jeong Hoon as antagonist Gao Ze, Collin Chou as Zhao's mentor, Godfrey Gao as Lu Bu and Gulnezer Bextiyar as Diao Chan.
