August 31, 2011 bit of rubbishThis film has nothing to do with Kum Yung's original novel about the wicked east and poison west characters. August 31, 2011 okFor movie, this is ok but Shu Qi is extremely annoying. She yelled and drunk all the time, very bad for a girl in foreign land. A little unrealistic at the end. I don't think Dr. Joo's mother is the villain here. The two most wicked characters in my opinion are Do Hyun's mother and her sister. The pair got on your nerves. They are so selfish and had no concern whatsoever for Yong Eun. I felt a little sorry for Joo Kyung Woo, after all he did truly loved his wife but was forced to choose between her and his mother, but the best one is Yong Eun's best friend. The plot was going round in a big circle. Would it not had been the great father, the whole drama will not be worth watching at all. The main female, Moon G. Young, never looked at people, as if the scripts were printed on the ground. The make up artist tried to cover her bad eye with hair so most of the time you see her with one eye, or she is looking down. Again 'love' is the theme on most stories, be it between husband and wife, mother and child, or just friends, all excellently executed as always with the Koreans. There are two stories on love touchingly leading to forgiveness. The ending of the story that showed a more humorous side on 'dead' is also very funny. All 8 tales are good. August 31, 2011 touching! great filmThis is one of the very best films in recent years. Love it despite of having reservations with Donny Yen who I did not particular like. However, he was as great as could be and I changed my view about him. The love Ip Man had for his country, his family and friends were all so well illustrated. The first epistle is absolutely excellent, very promising but unfortunately it went downhill all the way from there. A lot of it is silly and not logical and the ending is utterly confusing. Must have deleted some scenes that made the drama very puzzling at the end. Both of the male leads, particularly the prosecutor is as rigid as a rock. The girls are not that much better. An interesting subject though the reaper didn't seem to have much to do. A sort of sad ending but that is life. If everyone has a chance to tidy up their affairs and say good buy to all those you love, and to know all the truth about 'who done it' etc. etc., it would be so nice.
