  • What is a Super Audio CD (SACD)?
  • The sound of SACD comes from Direct Stream Digital (DSD) recording technology directly. DSD increases the resolution of music by following the original wave form of the music more closely resulting in music reproduction which is obviously pure and faithful to the original. Apart from the high sound quality, the SACD format has a larger capacity which can accommodate more than 4 times of the standard CD format. Hence, a SACD can provide space for 2-channel stereo data, up to 6-track multi-channel data, capacity for text and images, disc variations and copyright protection. To play a SACD, a SACD player is required.
