Ninagawa Mika applies her lush aesthetics to the dark yet colorful world of Diner, the photographer's third directorial effort after Sakuran and Helter Skelter. Based on Hirayama Yumeaki's novel, the film is set at a neon-washed underground diner exclusively for killers. Fujiwara Tatsuya brandishes kitchen knives as the diner's boss and chef, while Tamashiro Tina plays the poor innocent girl who unwittingly ends up as a waitress at this diner from hell. That is, if she lasts the night. Diner dispatches an all-star cast for its dangerous and eccentric clientele, including Oguri Shun, Kubota Masataka, Hongo Kanata, Saito Takumi, Sato Eriko, Takeda Shinji, Tsuchiya Anna, Maya Miki, Kaneko Nobuaki and Okuda Eiji.
