Another winner from Miriam Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I was a bit worried about this movie when, in the opening credits, Louis Koo's name is misspelled as "Louise". That can't be a good sign, I thought. But I needn't have worried. "Dry Wood Fierce Fire" serves up laughs galore and a heartwarming love story.

Much of this movie feels very spontaneous, as if the actors were just winging it or doing the scenes without having rehearsed them. I don't mean this as a criticism -- it gives the film a very fresh, light feel. And Miriam Yeung absolutely excels in that kind of a freewheeling atmosphere. She seems utterly unselfconscious in her comedic acting, bravely throwing herself into every goofy situation. I suspect that directors and fellow actors must greatly enjoy working with her, just as we enjoy watching her. I'll be chuckling over her mantis-style kung fu techniques for days.

The filmmaking here tends to be pretty chaotic and unpolished. And I suspect that the English subtitles can't possibly capture all of this film's rapid-fire verbal humor. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the wild, silly ride that "Dry Wood Fierce Fire" offers and I think you will, too.

Miriam is the Queen of Laughs Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Miriam Yeung is the queen of laughs. In "Dry Wood Fierce Fire" she plays a girl named Alice who works at a female magazine which has to merge with a male magazine. The co-editor of the male magazine is Ryan Lee (Louis Koo). When Alice first sees Ryan, she immediately develops a crush on him. But Ryan has a crush on Michelle (Flora Chan) who is their new boss.

Alice's family has been in the holistic chinese medicine business for four generations. She helps heal her co-workers and she knows kung fu. Ryan is a pretty boy on the outside, but he is physically very weak.

One day, Alice helps Ryan to flatter Michelle to get her to take photos. After this, Ryan started to ask Alice to help him with buying a necklace for Michelle. Later, helping him to paint and re-furnish his apartment. No matter how hard Alice tries, Ryan has a strong crush on Michelle. But when Alice leaves the magazine, Ryan realizes that he needs her.

This movie is good. It is about falling in love with someone for their good heart & good personality and not just for their looks. At first I wasn't really sure about the pairing of Miriam and Louis because I was very used to watching her with Daniel Wu. But after watching this movie a few times, Miriam and Louis is quite a good pair.

Pretty good movie Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This is a very entertaining romantic movie with a great cast and a fairly funny storyline. It has some hilarious moments – the blood nose meditation scene, although some may argue is a bit gross, extremely funny nevertheless. I didn’t know what I was expecting initially and after a rather slow start, it does build up steadily and becomes thoroughly entertaining. The music is also perfect and contributes to the whole mood and feel of the film. The only major criticism is that it is fairly predictable (but romantic films generally are don't you think?). Overall, a pretty good movie with some great moments and some solid acting. Enjoy!!!

Annoyance at it's worse Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
After watching this movie, I felt like my IQ dipped 10 points. This movie is your typical no brainer romantic comedy. Even fans of Louis Koo would be disappointed.

The plot is overly weak and the characters are annoying. Miriam is especially annoying in the movie and most other movies she is in. I don't know if there is anything I like about this movie.
