Directed by Hsu Hsiao Ming and produced by Hou Hsiao Hsien, the 1992 crime film Dust of Angels illustrates the growing issue of youth malaise and violence in 1990s Taiwan. With a story spanning from the village town of Beigang to the bustling big city of Taipei, the film captures the contrasting scenery and decaying values of a rapidly changing Taiwan.

A-Guo (Yen Chen Kuo) and A-douzi (Tan Zhi Gang) pass their days in aimless and reckless manner in their hometown of Beigang. When they're not fighting and making trouble at karaoke bars, they're idling at the pool hall or getting high in the attic. Their buddy Jie (Jack Kao), who has made something of a name for himself in Taipei, returns to Beigang after his boss gets killed. Jie enlists A-Guo and A-douzi in his plan to get revenge on his nemesis. In the ensuing deadly altercation, A-Guo and A-douzi find themselves in over their heads as the small-town thugs see big-time action for the first time. The two run back to Beigang in a panic, but the guns in their hands will lead them down a wild path of no return.

故事劇情描寫1990年代的台灣在經濟成長的影響下，呈現出迅速增長的青少年暴力問題。整個舞臺從雲林縣北港鎮朝天宮，轉移到台北市萬華區西門町取景，淳樸鄉鎮對比出繁華都市景象，隱喻人心糜爛與價值觀念的改變。

無所事事的北港少年阿國(顏正國 飾演) 與阿兜仔(譚志剛 飾演) 經常在卡拉OK店裡打架鬧事，整日流連於撞球室或在閣樓內吸食毒品，過著頹廢的生活方式。他們的同鄉友人捷哥(高捷 飾演) 在台北混出了一點名氣，捷哥因老大被殺而攜女友美美回鄉找阿國和阿兜仔的幫助，計劃找仇家阿文(李興文 飾演) 尋仇。

然而，仇家雖被槍殺，捷哥的夥伴神經標(林鉅 飾演) 卻也中彈不治身亡，兩名平日只會打架嗆聲的少年，初次見識喋血大受震撼，兩人在驚慌失措中離開捷哥，返回北港安頓，但捷哥交給他們的兩把手槍，卻也從此改變了他們的命運。

阿國和阿兜仔手中有了槍，讓他們意氣風發的青春愈發膨脹。在一言不合就開打的衝突之間，他們意外地搶到一批毒品與霰彈槍，卻也捲入黑幫追殺的不歸路，兩人只好逃離北港前往台北尋找捷哥投靠，自此，兩人便開始一路北上，過程中卻不斷與不良份子產生衝突，在五光十色的都市裡，他們享受著快意當前的張狂刺激，卻渾然不知在吞雲吐霧之間，漸漸迷失於紙醉金迷的繁華生活。現實的殘酷來得猝不及防，少年蒙塵的青春已註定提早畫下句點，後來，更成為黑道利益爭鬥下的犧牲品。
