The opening film of the 28th Busan International Film Festival, Because I Hate Korea directed by Jang Kun Jae (A Midsummer's Fantasia) explores the meaning of happiness in modern society.

Jang Jae Hyun, the director of Korea's first exorcism film The Priests, returns with another critically acclaimed occult thriller. Exhuma gathers the top-drawer cast of Choi Min Sik, Yu Hae Jin, Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun to play various people – a feng shui expert, an undertaker and two young shamans – tasked to exhume and relocate a cursed tomb. The Korean horror blockbuster won four prizes at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards including Best Director and Best Actress. In Los Angeles, renowned Korean shaman Hwa Rim (Kim Go Eun) and her protégé Bong Gil (Lee Do Hyun) receive a huge commission to help the eldest grandson of a family plagued by a mysterious illness. Hwa Rim notices that the gravestone of an ancestor is the cause of the curse, and recommends relocating it. She enlists feng shui master Sang Deok (Choi Min Sik) and undertaker Yeong Geun (Yu Hae Jin) to join the exhumation. Sang Deok senses an ominous energy around the grave that points to a vengeful and harmful supernatural presence.

Two months after President Park's assassination on October 26, Defense Security Commander Chun Doo Kwang (Hwang Jung Min) engineers a military coup in the country's capital, mobilizing even frontline troops to Seoul. Meanwhile, Lee Tae Shin (Jung Woo Sung), the Capital Security Commander, holds the line against the military insurgency to protect Seoul and his people.
