Andy Lau and Xiao Yang (Detective Chinatown 2) swap identities in the action comedy Endgame, which was released during the 2021 Lunar New Year. Rao Xiaozhi, the director of the 2018 sleeper hit A Cool Fish, helms this Chinese remake of the Japanese black comedy Key of Life about a hitman and a bit actor exchanging identities. Wan Qian (The Wild Goose Lake) also co-stars in the film.

Small-time actor Chen Xiaomeng (Xiao Yang) is unlucky in every aspect of his life. His career and love life are going nowhere, and he even manages to fail at suicide. At a bathhouse, Xiaomeng accidentally causes another bathhouse guest, Zhou Quan (Andy Lau), to take a fall and get knocked out. Recalling that Zhou Quan had valuables in his locker, Xiaomeng impulsively swaps locker wristbands with the unconscious man, and just like that, they exchange lives. However, it turns out that Zhou Quan is a notorious hitman, and now Xiaomeng is forced to finish his job. Meanwhile, Zhou Quan wakes up with amnesia in the hospital, and begins a new life as desperate, failed actor Chen Xiaomeng.
