一首經典名曲，半闕比肩歌謠。《高山青》是一部以台灣著名作家、愛國詩人《阿里山的姑娘》歌詞作者鄧禹平為原型的經典巨製。
鄧禹平家境清苦卻才華橫溢。富家女白玫與之同窗，感其救命之恩和才華，與之相戀。鄧考入重慶中央電影廠後白玫隨即也考入重慶女子師範學院。攀權貴，白家逼女嫁豪門，白玫不從，逃回重慶。熟料，鄧卻突然隨電影廠遷往上海。白玫畢業後欲往上海，鄧恰巧又隨劇組赴台拍攝電影。拍戲期間，鄧禹平應邀為電影創作主題歌《高山青》。電影沒殺青，上海解放，兩岸斷絕一切交往，劇組被迫滯留台灣。從此，鄧、白二人海天永隔。白玫一生守候，希望鄧禹平有朝一日從台島歸來。在台灣，將軍之女柳葉被鄧才情高格所動，一生相戀。但鄧初戀難棄，只成知己而負紅顏。結果，柳葉出家為尼。1985年貧病潦倒中的鄧禹平病逝。白玫通過電台得知鄧禹平在台病逝，不久也離開人世。
