Directed by Sen Dao, the Chinese crime action thriller Foolish Plan gathers an eclectic cast that includes Hong Kong actors Jordan Chan and Lawrence Ng, Korean star Lee Bum Soo and Taiwan idol Jiro Wang for a dangerous conspiracy over an ancient treasure. When Empress Ki secretly escaped back to Goryeo during the Yuan Dynasty, she only took with her a dragon phoenix mirror. Before her death, she gave the mirror to her maid who passed it on to her descendants. Ever since learning this secret, Hong Kong underworld tycoon Bai Cuoxiong (Lawrence Ng) has set his sights on acquiring the valuable ancient mirror. Meanwhile, casino hustler Mei Dazhi (Jordan Chan) falls into debt because of his wife An Jing (Deng Jiajia) and a honeymooning couple (Jiro Wang and Zhang Xiaojue) they meet by chance. Furthermore, because of An Jing's sister (Xu Ouyi) and her student Zaizai, they get pulled into the dangerous battle for the dragon phoenix mirror involving Bai, mobster Shi San Yao (Zhu Danqing) and Korean assassin Cha Ki Bum (Lee Bum Soo).
