葉天林不滿意既定的升學模式。他瞞著父親休了學，一面在餐廳演唱，一面為傳播公司作曲。葉父把希望寄託在兒子身上，給了天林很大的壓力。表哥孟大元幹勁十足，主持了一家傳播公司，經常安排天林為唱片公司作曲和演唱。

天林的好友唐風，從小在育幼院長大，他拼命的賺錢是為了育幼院搬家盡一份心力；唐風的女朋友蘇琪主持「早安台北」節目，她鼓勵天林作曲，在節目中播出天林的歌曲，忙碌的唐風老是找天林陪她，感覺上她更像是天林的女朋友。

天林休學的事終於被父親發現了，葉文在盛怒之下把他趕出了家門……
