Directed by Herman Yau, Herbal Tea is an offbeat romantic comedy with likable, popular stars, and a fine Hong Kong location. Candy Lo is Mei Chu, an orphaned proprietor of an herbal tea cafe in Hong Kong's urban Central district, who finds her life complicated by unexpected romantic situations and minor personal trials. She befriends a struggling actor-stuntman named Dan (Jordan Chan), who's just been dumped by his actress girlfriend Linda (Li Li Li). True to her generous nature, Mei Chu works overtime to cure Dan's heartbreak, but finds herself falling in love with him herself! However, Mei Chu has a few longtime neighbors and friends of who may have their own romantic ideas about her. Possessing a charming local Hong Kong flavor, and winning performances from stars Candy Lo and Jordan Chan, Herbal Tea is a light romantic comedy that's as relaxing and enjoyable as its name implies!

　　Jordan Chan (The Young and Dangerous series) and Candy Lo (Truth or Dare: Sixth Floor Rear Flay) star in this refreshing romantic comedy. Mei-Chu (Lo), owner of a famous and long running herbal tea store, decides to rent one of her apartments out. She finds a tenant in Dan (Chan), a down-on-his-luck movie stuntman and superstar wannabe. Sympathized with Dan's breakup with his girlfriend Linda, Mei-Chu gradually befriends her new tenant and encourages him to change Linda's mind. When Dan and Linda get back together, however, Mei-chu realizes that she has also fallen in love with Dan. Now it will take more than herbal tea to cure this entangled love triangle.

When one considers the oeuvre of director Herman Yau, romantic comedy is not one's first thought. However, with "Herbal Tea", he proved himself perfectly at home in that genre. Candy Lo stars as Mei Chu, the hyper-energetic owner of an herbal tea shop in old Hong Kong Central. When she's not brewing up healthful teas, she's leading an early morning swordplay class for the middle-aged women of the neighborhood, renting out apartments, speeding around town on her moped, or capturing the hearts of men young and old with her wide-eyed beauty and down-to-earth personality.

Movie stuntman and wannabe actor Dan (Jordan Chan) answers an advertisement in hopes of renting one of Mei Chu's apartments. The two bond over their fondness for martial arts and, even more, for actress Linda (Li Li Li), who happens to be Dan's girlfriend and Mei Chu's favorite actress. When Linda dumps Dan, Mei Chu tries to ease the pain of Dan's heartbreak while seeking to reunite the pair. She also supports Dan when he attempts to break into a leading role in a movie only to discover that the role is in a cheap Cat. III flick. Through the ups and downs, the bond between Dan and Mei Chu grows, until Dan begins to wonder whether he's romantically involved with the wrong woman.

Apart from one brief maudlin stretch, "Herbal Tea" works brilliantly. Its characters, both the leads and the minor parts, are allowed to be interesting and fully formed. The film is funny and moving and splendidly brings its urban milieu to life. For an added treat, the film includes some sweet Candy Lo songs. Very highly recommended.

Don't usually see a good light hearted comedy from Hong Kong like this one. Simple story, natural and superb acting by both Lo and Chan. There was no boring moment throughout. Well done.

i loved this movie.... it's so sweet and funny. i thought Candy Lo and Jordan Chan's lil' love story was really cute...at first i didn't think the film would be that good but at the end i just felt like watching it again and again...it's so good, u guys should go watch it...won't dissapoint....
