The Worst X sees THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE member Kawamura Kazuma returning as Oya High leader Hanaoka Fujio, along with other members of The Worst's main cast. Besides dealing with Housen Academy, this time the street fighters of Oya High face new challenges from Senomon Technical High School. NCT 127's Yuta makes his acting debut as Senomon High's strongest fighter Suzaki, while BE:FIRST's Ryoki is Senomon's head, Amagai Kohei, who aims to beat Oya and take over SWORD.

Oya High vs. Senomon High feat. Suzuran and Housen
The most exciting development of LDH's HiGH & LOW gangster action series has been its crossover with the world of Takahashi Hiroshi's Crows and Worst. After HiGH & LOW The Worst pit the delinquent students of Oya High against Housen Academy, it's only natural that the legendary Suzuran High enters the brawl in the sequel HiGH & LOW The Worst X, though not necessarily in the way one may have expected.

HiGH & LOW The Worst X continues to extend the Crows x Worst-meets-HiGH & LOW universe with Oya High's impetuous new leader Hanaoka Fujio (Kawamura Kazuma) angling for the chance to challenge Suzuran's top fighter Raul. Instead of that fight, he has to first deal with the sudden threat from Senomon Technical High School, led by spiteful rich kid Amagai Kohei (Miyami Ryoki) and his lieutenant Suzaki Ryo (Nakamoto Yuta). After quickly rising to the top of Senomon with the help of Suzaki's fists, Amagai forges an alliance with two other schools in order to take down Oya High. Outgunned and outnumbered, the brawling boys of Oya High get roughed up badly, but they'll pull out all the stops to defend their turf and friends.

First things first, HiGH & LOW The Worst X is not as good as HiGH & LOW The Worst. Narratively, the story isn't as compelling due to the thin character development, and the new conflicts and camaraderie that arise come across as abrupt. The characters and bonds that were established in the previous film, however, carry over surprisingly well to this installment. Even without any of the older characters from the HiGH & LOW world, The Worst X still feels warmly familiar.

Where The Worst X improves on the formula is the insane amount of fighting action it gets in. This film basically connects the dots from one fight to another, with several extended sequences of street and school brawls. The final exhilarating showdown between Oya and Senomon runs for over 20 minutes, from gathering forces for that dramatic running face-off, to destructive clashes in every corner of the school, to the brutal climax in the gymnasium.

The story may be slight, but The Worst X delivers as billed when it comes to throwing punches and throwing out unexpected crossovers. It even adds two non-LDH boy band members to the hot-blooded mix with NCT 127's Yuta and BE:FIRST's Ryoki.
