H [Fly High] Album Description

Last year, leader Kim Sung Kyu was the first Infinite member to venture out and release a solo album. His Another Me stood out as a remarkably sincere and well-produced foray into modern rock, an album that employed the services of Nell and left behind dance pop hooks for melancholic rock ballads. This year, Infinite's rapper line tackles a different genre – hip-hop – and Infinite H's mini-album Fly High succeeds in much the same way that Sung Kyu's Another Me did. The sound is completely different, but what is the same is the care that went into producing the album with the right mindset and the right people.
Look at the songwriting credits and you won't see any of the usual K-pop hitmakers (not even Sweetune). The names are familiar though to those who follow Korean hip-hop: Primary, Paloalto, Beenzino, Bumkey, Dead'P, Vida Loca, Zion T, Gaeko. Primary is the main creative force of the album, and you really can't go wrong with that. The box-donning hip-hop producer composed and arranged three of the album's five tracks and brought along all his regular collaborators. The result is a mini-album that actually earns the "H" in Infinite H and allows Hoya and Dong Woo to showcase their rapping and vocal talents. Victorious Way by Vida Loca and Dead'P opens the album in style with a throwback whirl of smooth rhymes, simple beats and old-school scratch. The heart of Infinite H's sound though is the solid lineup of R&B/hip-hop love songs that follow. The main plug Special Girl (Track 2) woos listeners with laidback rap and a sugary refrain from Bumkey, and "Without You" (Track 3) is even better, with Hoya and Dong Woo's voices staying on top of the song's deliberate pacing and moody tone. Infinite H's mini-album notably doesn't have a high-energy track. Rather than grabbing attention, it draws you in with mellow raps and mid-tempo compositions like the breezy titular track Fly High, which dexterously cruises the album to its final note. |

<--- My real name is Emma, this is my father’s account! ^^
I received my albums around a 10 days after I ordered them. (Sweden, Europe). It usually takes 7-14 days. “Fly High” is an album that I’ve been wanting to buy since its release. I’ve just never had the time or the money to buy it. But now I finally did, and I will never regret it! - Package & Album - I ordered this album together with two other albums and they came wrapped in a thick layer of bubble wrap. Neither of the albums has any visible injuries (and out of all the albums I've bought from YesAsia, which is quite many, only one have had an injury). The bubble wrapped albums came in a cardboard box. This albums comes with two photocards, I got one of Hoya and one of Dongwoo and it seems like everyone else got that as well. This packaging is similar to the packaging of Lovelyz’ “Girls’ Invasion” and Infinite-H’s “Fly Again” (remember that both of these albums were released after “Fly Again”, I just bought them before I bought “Fly Again”. There is two “books” in a case, one contains the CD and the other contains a photobook which is filled with two different concept photographs. The photos are very beautiful and the layout of the album is very unique – yet simple. I love it. - Songs - 01. Victorious way 02. Special girl (Feat. Bumky) 03. 니가 없을 때 (Feat. Zion.T) 04. 못해 (Feat. 개코 Of Dynamic Duo) 05. Fly high (Feat. 베이비 소울) “Fly High” instantly grabbed a hold of me when the tracklist was released. All of the songs on the album have this hip-hop feeling, sometimes even an r’n’b-ish feeling and it’s just heaven for your ears to put this album on repeat and just settle down somewhere and ENJOY. There isn’t one track on this album that I don’t enjoy, it’s an all kill for album. And I’m so proud of Hoya & Dongwoo. - Overall - Being a fan of Infinite themselves should be enough for you wanting to buy Infinite-H’s “Fly High”, then again Infinite-H’s concept is a bit different from Infinite’s, but the quality on the music is just as wonderful and amazing. |

I ordered this album because I absolutely love Infinite H in addition to Infinite. This is a really well-done mini album, and I think it's great how Dongwoo and Hoya were allowed to branch off and create music that deviates from Infinite's original 80's-esque style.
The album itself arrived in good condition, although it came a little later than I expected. The structure (?) of the album is a bit unusual too. It's not a typical kpop CD where it's kind of like a book and you open it and the CD is right there. It's kind of a box? with one open side. The best thing I can compare it to is when you buy a set of a book series (Harry Potter, Hunger Games) and the books all come in this one box with an open front to show the book spines/titles. And there's two pieces inside: the CD itself and the photobook. I was also surprised because I received two photocards: one Hoya and one Dongwoo. I didn't think there was a chance of me getting any photocards because I ordered the album way after the original release date. The album also came with two Infinite H logo stickers (one purple, one green) which was cool. Overall I really liked the album and the packaging was cool. The only complaint I really have is the shipping took a little long, but I chose the standard shipping option so I don't think I can whine too much haha. |

I would like to start my review off by saying that I'm not really an Infinite fan. There music just isn't my kind of music. So when I bought this album, you could say that it was a completely unbiased decision. I knew from watching the two music videos, "Special Girl" and "Without You", that this would be a CD that I really enjoy. Boy, did I turn out to be right!
The whole album is really well done. All of the songs sound different, and all five of them are similar to that good hip-hop that used to play on the radio. Their are not any songs that are super peppy, but almost all of them make you want to move around and dance. The first song is 'Victorious Way', and in my personal opinion, it is the best song on the album. It just sounds so... Intense? Is that the word? Every time 'Special Girl' plays, you have to sings along. Seriously. 'Without You' features Zion.T, who is an amazing singer in South Korea. I would be lying if I said that I am not obsessed with his voice at the moment. 'Can't Do It' is probably the most laid back songs on the album, and it's something you would listen to if you just want to relax. 'Fly High' is almost peppy, but still very hip-hoppy. The album itself is like a DVD almost, at least in the fact that it has a bigger case and you pull out the booklet and the CD case. The photobook has two different versions. The standard wear clothes and look cool half, but also the 'Painting Lab' side. Basically, the two members wear white suites and cover each other in paint. Both are really nice, and probably one of the better photo books that I have seen. Oh! The CD also came with two cards, and two stickers. The cards or Hoya and Dong Woo, and the stickers are of the logo, just in two different colors. All in all, this is an amazing album. I'm really glad that I bought it. Even if you aren't a fan of Infinite, you will become on for Infinite H! |
