YesAsia Editorial Description

Teenage singer IU who made her debut with the song "Missing Child" when she was only 15 years old is back with her anticipated second mini-album. For the new release, the talented singer collaborated with a top production and songwriter team led by producer/lyricist Choi Gap Won and producers Kim Do Hoon, Han Sang Won, and Lee Jong Hoon. The principal song on iu...im is Marshmallow (Track 3), which combines 60s rock 'n' roll and French pop. Other songs on IU's new release include Love Attack, which views things from the perspective of an outgoing female, the expressive "Riding on a Train" (Track 2), the melancholic ballad "Morning Tears" (Track 4), and "Nervous Date" (Track 5).

Love Attack! Love Attack! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
-This review is written with the power of hindsight-

INTRO
This is the last of what I call "IU the kid" CDs, before she traded in her sometimes-squeaky girl voice for her adult woman tones. I actually like her kid voice to be honest (in addition to her adult voice), but your opinions will vary. If you don't mind it though, it's a very cheerful and relaxed album and I daresay you'll find it a energy booster if you find yourself bored.

ALBUM BREAKDOWN
Track #1, "Love Attack", is actually one of my favorite IU songs despite being a bit childish (I guess I'm old enough to call myself an uncle fan?). It's upbeat bubblegum pop, and has a fun romantic swing to it along with a good beat. Track #2, "Board the Train", is quite a bit slower and it's got a good weight of IU's sad emotion thrown in there, contrasting heavily to the previous and the following track. I remember the 3rd track, "Marshmallow", getting a lot of mixed reviews - some thought it was cute, some laughed at the "marshmarrow" pronunciation. I think it is cute and really not too bad - it's got a good beat and young spirit. Track #4 "Morning Tears" is another slow ballad characteristic of IU, again filled with her familiar sense of emotion. The last regular track, which I'm attempting to translate as "Fast Heartbeat Dating" (sorry if I'm butchering it), is a lighthearted, easy-sounding ending for the CD.

CONCEPT AND PACKAGING
Since it's arguably a small release, `iu...im' comes in a regular sized, cardboard-type square case. The accompanying lyrics photobook isn't even glued to the inside of the case, but it contains cute pictures of a short-haired IU on each page that give off a cheery, fun feeling so you won't be disappointed.

CONCLUSION
Of the 3 "IU the kid" albums, I like this one the most. It's lighthearted, cute, and the last of the IU CDs before she went for a more mature style in 2010 for `REAL'. It might sound a little childish at first, but give `iu...im' a shot - I think you'll find it adorable.

IU music, swings me... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This mini album is very good. It has the mixture of Pop, Ballads and a bit of R&B. Something that can cater to different people, with these various genre songs/tunes. My mood will swing according to the songs...which gave me the enjoyment of my daily life. A say 'music heals your souls'...

I AM.....Loving IU Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I think this mini album is very good. I think it has more uniqueness than other because it the tracks differed tremendously one after the other. A mixture of Pop, Ballads and a sling of R&B. Something that different people can get together and listen too, because it doesn't stay on the same old tune. Really showed off IU's special ability to change from concept to concept.

Track 1 (Love Attack) is a pop track. It's cute and it has a very catchy beat and phrases. It was a good way to start the album because it catches your ears without being over the top too kiddy cute or to slow a ballad to make you skip the track.

Track 2 (Train Ride) is a ballad, without being boring. Very NICE. Its a way to smooth out from track 1. It shows off her vocals and is something you can drift off into thought with or sleep too.

Track 3 (Marshmallow) is a VERY upbeat and cutesy track. I was a little surprised to how POP it was compared to the other songs. Surely it was this track that gave the album cover its look. Its really cute and grows on you especially with her high bubbly voice and the line "Marshmallow, Marshmallow".

Track 4 (Morning Tears) is another ballad. totally the opposite of the previous song. It sounds like it has meaning as well. very nice to listen to, something to listen to when you feel like you just need to smooth things out in your head.

Track 5 (Nervous Date) is amazing, Its like R&B, meet Jazz Pop kind of style and is my favorite song from the album. I really think this should've been a single. It also shows off her vocals nicely as well. Cute yet funky.

Track 6 is a instrumental of track 2. It has a nice feel, something you'd hear in a movie when something bad happens but then all it gets better. I honestly love this instrumental more than the song, its has a strong feeling/meaning in every chord.

Track 7 is instrumental of track 4. I also like this instrumental, its really nice to listen to.
