YesAsia Editorial Description

The Heroic Trio and its sequel, Executioners now comes with an option of English dubbing.

Director Johnnie To and action choreographer Ching Siu Tung pool their talents for The Heroic Trio, a Hong Kong action fantasy that has become a cult classic! Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui, and Maggie Cheung play a trio of tough women who band together to bring justice to the city. When an ancient Ming Dynasty eunuch begins stealing babies from unsuspecting couples, Wonder Woman (Anita Mui) takes to the rooftops to find the culprit. Joining her is the mercenary Thief Catcher (Maggie Cheung), a money-grubbing bounty hunter with a heart of gold, and the Invisible Girl (Michelle Yeoh), who starts out as a bad guy before switching to the side of the angels. Together, the three try to stop the evil eunuch from launching his plan to bring about a new Imperial age.

The three ladies return in Executioners, the sequel to The Heroic Trio, who are now faced with a post-apocalyptic world and an evil megalomaniac named Mr. Kim (Anthony Wong). In this war torn wasteland, uncontaminated water comes at a premium, and Mr. Kim seemingly owns the entire supply. Thief Catcher teams up with a charming rogue (Lau Ching Wan) to find a pure supply to save the city, while Invisible Girl is concerned with protecting the President from a possible military coup led by power-hungry Paul Chun. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman (Anita Mui) has gone missing! Will the Heroic Trio reunite in time to save the city from the forces of evil? Co-starring Takeshi Kaneshiro and Damian Lau, Executioners takes the characters from the classic The Heroic Trio and puts them into an exciting and dramatic new adventure.

The Heroic Trio and Executioners achieved international cult status thanks to their delirious action, comic book cinematography and art direction, and the trio of leading ladies, who bring terrific presence and believable emotion to their larger-than-life characters. For comic book thrills and female action heroes, the double feature of The Heroic Trio and Executioners is hard to beat!

Cut Version Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
The movie is brilliant, the DVD has a decent quality, widescreen with a relatively good stereo sound. Unfortunately the version is cut. Not as much as the older US Version, but still there are a couple of scenes missing. As far as I know only a 4:3 mono version exists which shows the full movie with all its gory moments. What a pity for this classic HK flick.

The lovely Trio - Michelle, Anita, Maggie. Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
For the 80's this film was ahead of it's time. Soon after 2 of the stars became internationally famous. Great direction by director Johnnie To, but one thing that really spoiled the film were the visable wires. It was very laughable to see it so clearly even on a small scene. I remembered the reactions of the audience when I went to the film premiere. But sad to say that is the difference between a HK made film and an international production. If I were Johnnie I would digitally fix the little hang ups before they launched the DVD.

Cult Status Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This film is entertaining, grotesque, funny, revolting, and camp. It must be a Johhnie To film! The idea of such talented actresses playing super-heroines is cool. The action scenes are well done, and it will certainly keep you entertained. But, for some, the over-the-top violence may turn some people off. And the things that happen to babies, will make you turn your head away from the screen! But, if taken as a tongue-in-cheek, campy action-adventure film, its one of the better ones. The sound is only in mono, but the subs are well-done. Enjoy! And cringe at the same time...

Don't even read this Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is a High Flyin' Wire-Fu Action movie with Michelle Yeoh! Not to mention Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung, you don't need a complete strangers opinion to know it's worth buying. Just get it, it's also known as "The Heroic Trio".

The story is fine, but if you really need a story, why are you looking at Kung fu movies? Go read a book, that's where most stories are hidden.
