Two actresses swap faces in the film adaptation of Matsuura Daruma's fantasy suspense manga Kasane. Directed by Sato Yuichi (Strawberry Night). Kasane: Beauty and Fate explores the dark price of beauty and cruel turns of fate through the double lives of the actresses, played by Tsuchiya Tao (My Little Monster) and Yoshine Kyoko (The Anthem of the Heart). Asano Tadanobu, Dan Rei (Laplace's Witch) and Kanjani8's Yokoyama Yu (Hamon: Yakuza Boogie) also co-star in the film.

Fuchi Kasane is a girl with homely looks but amazing acting talent. Tanzawa Nina is a stage actress of outstanding beauty but middling talent. Kasane's late mother, a legendary actress, left her a mysterious lipstick that allows her to take the face of whomever she kisses. After exchanging faces with Nina, Kasane takes on Nina's name and identity and rises to prominence on stage.
