Rest in peace, Lee Eun Joo. Korean actress Lee Eun Joo tragically committed suicide on February 22, 2005, leaving behind a brief, but memorable career filled with immeasurable promise. She was only 24 years old.
Lee was born December 22 (November 16 according to the Lunar Calendar), 1980, and entered the entertainment industry in 1996. In 2001 Lee was honored with a Best New Actress Award at the 38th Daejong Film Festival for her role in Hong Sang Soo's Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors. Her subsequent film roles included appearances in the popular film Bungee Jumping of Their Own, as well as the 2004 blockbuster Taegugki.
Lee's most recent works were the immensely popular 2004 TV drama Phoenix, and the daring drama The Scarlet Letter with acclaimed actor Han Suk Kyu.
