It's once more into the fray for Matsuda Shota, who returns to the Liar Game without co-star Toda Erika for the first time in Liar Game - Reborn, the second film based on Kaitani Shinobu's popular manga. Resetting the game two years after the end of The Final Stage, the creators have set up a new Liar Game with new rules and the same consequences: a big payday for the winner, and a mountain of debt for the 19 other losers. This time, Matsuda's master schemer character Akiyama is joined by Shinomiya (played by Tabe Mikako, Kimi ni Todoke), who needs his help to defeat the new "musical chairs" game created by the mysterious Omega (television actress Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Japan's sweetheart Ashida Mana).

As revenge for the events at the end of Liar Game - The Final Stage, the Liar Game authorities have created the game's most difficult challenge yet. After much-needed convincing by young college student Shinomiya (Tabe Mikako), former con artist/Liar Game player Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) also agrees to return to play for the two billion yen prize. However, not even Akiyama's experience with the game can prepare him for what game runners Omega (Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Ashida Mana) have in store for the 20 players.
