Written by the now acclaimed director Johnnie To and produced by Wong Tin Lam, Love and Passion turned a new page in Liza Wang's acting career when it was aired in 1982. She impresses the audience with her role as a patriotic and dynamic student during the Sino-Japanese War. What must not be missed are the ever-popular theme songs she performs, both of which have become her signature tunes. Co-starring Patrick Tse, Ray Lui, and Regina Tsang, Love and Passion chronicles the eventful lives of two Chinese couples since the 1930s. The love and hatred among them even pass on to their next generation.
Mung Tip (Liza Wang) and Ting Sum (Patrick Tse) fall in love with each other during student movements. But their respective families, enemies for decades, disapprove of this relationship. The young couple finally reconciles the two families through tireless efforts and gets married. However, Mung Tip's adoptive brother Tin Ngai (Ray Lui) has admired her for a long time. Even though he himself is also married, he is still jealous of Ting Sum. His plan for revenge never ceases in the next two decades...

Chong Mung Tip (Wang Ming Chun) and Yuen Ting Sum (Tse Yin) fall in love during their participation in the anti-Japanese movement. Their path, nevertheless, besets with difficulties as their families are at feud. The ups and downs they have experienced together further consolidate the love between them. Eventually, they manage to have the understanding from both families and married. But, misfortune has not spared them for too long, a misunderstanding nearly shatters their family.
On the other hand, Chong Tin Ngai (Lui Leung Wai), Tip's adoptive brother, has always adored her. Although he has married Chai Wan Chi (Tsang Hing Yu), he seeks by all means to take vengeance on Sum. His hatred towards Sum erupts after twenty long years, resulting in their next generation experiencing what they have experienced years ago...

That was the time when Liza Wang & Patrick Tse (Nicholas's dad) were always famously paired off as either husband/wife or boy/girlfriend in many of tvb's series. Patrick has the air & personality to carry off his almost signature character of 'gambling king' /playboy and Liza was getting hotter with every new series as she sang many of the theme songs. Ray Lui is another one of those veteran actor who's still around and playing many varied roles in much of tvb's production series. He's very polished & experienced and a gem in whatever role he plays.
This is no exception to another one of those long series where the second generation got involved. But fear not, it's worth it. Another classic not to be missed as they get more expensive as they get 'older'. |

I like Romance in the rain better
|
This is a famous TVB classic and so I wanted to see what it was all about.
Not that it is not good but I like the songs and story of Romance in the rain better. I do like Ray Liu and his storyline than the rest of the cast and their storylines. |

| This is Liza Wang's Classic work. If you are a Liza Wang's fan, you must own this series. Excellent story line. Liza Wang is exceptional in this series. |
