Man Behind the Sun (1988)
Not for the faint of heart, the 1988 cult shocker Men Behind the Sun depicts the stomach-churning horrors and atrocities of Japanese prison camps during WWII. Directed by T.F. Mou, the infamous historical exploitation film enters the nightmarish camp of the Imperial Japanese Army's notorious Unit 731, which barbarically used prisoners as human subjects for biological and chemical warfare experiments. The film follows young Japanese conscripts who arrive at Camp 731 in northeastern China, and their part in carrying out increasingly brutal and gruesome experiments on prisoners as the war progressed.

Laboratory of the Devil (1992)
A bloody and stomach-churning sequel to the 1988 cult shocker Men Behind The Sun, Laboratory of the Devil (a.k.a. Men Behind The Sun 2) is a harrowing return to the Japanese prison camps depicted in the first film. Paul Chu (The Killer) is a Japanese soldier, who recalls the horrors and atrocities inflicted upon prisoners in the barbaric Camp 731. Through flashbacks, the audience is treated to many gory and grotesque re-enactments of brutal scientific experiments run on living, breathing human beings. These experiments are sadistic and truly not for the weak of heart; they feature severed limbs, buckets of blood, screaming humans, and enough nightmare-inducing horrors to give just about anyone the screaming willies. While not for all audiences, Laboratory of the Devil is good midnight cinema fodder for those who enjoy twisted and depraved cinema meant to shock, provoke, and ultimately disturb. If you saw the first Men Behind The Sun, then you should be prepared for the gross and utterly wretched crimes against humanity doled out in Laboratory of the Devil!

Narrow Escape (1994)
Narrow Escape is the third and final installment of the grueling Men Behind the Sun series chronicling the atrocious war crimes committed by Unit 731, the Imperial Japanese Army unit that conducted biological and chemical experiments on POWs during WWII. Godfrey Ho, who also directed Laboratory of the Devil, finishes the series with a final horrific ride of blood and gore. After receiving the emergency order to retreat, officers of the 731 Unit rush to destroy all evidence. One officer accidentally cuts his hand in the laboratory and gets infected with bacteria. He boards the escape train and the infection begins to spread rapidly onboard.
