YesAsia Editorial Description

The hopping vampires of Mr. Vampire are back, but this time they're set to terrorize modern day Hong Kong! A sequel in name only, Mr. Vampire II again stars the great Lam Ching Ying as a Taoist priest charged with exorcising pesky undead corpses who hop around like rotting bunnies of death. When a band of grave robbers discovers a trio of sedated Chinese vampires (two adults and one child), they cart the bunch back to Hong Kong in hopes that they can be sold to the highest bidder. But the child vampire goes free, leading to an eventual escape by the rotting "parents", who go in search of their child. Enter Lam Ching Ying as a Taoist herbalist who, along with photojournalist Yuen Biao and daughter Moon Lee, investigates the sudden appearance of the undead hopping terrors. Add in a gang of portly children who befriend the child vampire, and a famous "slow-motion" fight sequence, and you get Mr. Vampire II, a unique mixture of action, comedy, sentimentality, and Taoist shenanigans as one could only find in Hong Kong Cinema!

His two assistants, meanwhile, are killed by Papa Vampire and Mama Vampire when the talismans fall off. Coroner Dr. Lam diagnoses vampiritis as the cause of the twain's death. The good doctor also uses the traditional glutinous rice and sap ink to subdue the two assistants who also become vampires. hopping good time Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
A great fun movie from start to finish! This blu ray is superb and shows how good these old movies can look with a bit of effort. Colours are natural and no print damage is visible. The 7.1 surround also adds to the movie greatly as it adds some nice ambience and resists the urge to just make everything loud. A spectacular upgrade on the original dvd. If you like these classic movies then this blu ray is as good as a 25 year old movie can look.

Vampirism hits the screen Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
We can tell from this movie onwards, Lam Ching Ying has been typecast as the exorcist priest. The story is a little farfetched but humourous nonetheless. Moon Lee and Ricky Lau (both from V-1) played goofy supportive roles. Moon as Biao's childhood sweetheart, Lam CY as her father who runs a herbalist shop, Biao as a newby photographer waiting for his big break, Ricky Lau as one of the Professor's assistant.

Professor/grave robber and assistants accidentally found 3 mummies (from Manchu period) and decided to bring them back to his lab while he negotiates a deal for big bucks. All 3 have talisman posted on their foreheads. While on his way to show junior to potential buyer, talisman flew off, junior became active and disappeared into the night. Meanwhile, goofy assistant Ricky fiddled with mama & papa mummies and removed their talisman by accident resulting in complete chaos. Fortunately professor returned and had matters under control again. Ricky was injured during the mayhem and seek treatment from traditional herbalist/doctor Lam CY. In the meantime, junior found himself in modern surrounds and befriended by innocent young girl and her friends (think ET). All came to a halt when mama & papa came looking for lost junior. Will they have a happy reunion? What can herbalist/taoist Lam CY do to prevent them going on a 'bloody feast'??

Not Enough Hopping Ghost Action! Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
The Momma & Poppa vampires were scary & funny but way too much time was spent on the cutesy child vampire. The slow motion retarding chemicals was also stupid. This movie was much less interesting than the original Mr. Vampire.
